Naomi Grainger Obituary

Grainger
NAOMI A. GRAINGER
August 15, 1925 November 7, 2020
And so, their story ends.

Beloved by her dear friends and family, Naomi passed away peacefully in Boulder, Colorado at Morningstar Senior Living at the age of 95. A long run by any measure.
Born in New York, Naomi spent several years in the deep south as a child before returning to New Britain, CT, where she was raised by loving aunts as she had lost her mother Esther Josephine Sandberg to childbirth in 1933.
Naomi met her future husband Bob Grainger while he was training in Groton, CT for the submarine service in the South Pacific during WW2. They married shortly after the war and headed to Columbia, MO where Bob pursued his Doctorate Degree in Biochemistry.
Naomi and Bob worked side by side for many years as they built his consulting practice. They traveled extensively for work and pleasure and lived full lives with a nice dose of adventure along the way.
A long time resident of Colorado Springs, Naomi was widowed in 2003. She remained steadfastly independent, living in her home until the age of 93. A devoted and tight knit group of neighbors played an important role in supporting her efforts to remain independent! A big thank you goes out to them from the Grainger family.
She will be remembered as a trusted friend and loving parent and grandmother. Something we can all set our sights on.
Naomi and Bob raised two sons John Scott Grainger of Cary, NC (wife Donna Rae) and Matthew Claude Grainger of Boulder, CO (wife Catherine Marie).
She is survived by her sons and grandchildren Laura Camcioglu, Michele Grainger, Clara Grainger, Evan Grainger, Ashley Johnson and Scott McCutcheon and great grandchildren Ian and Caroline Johnson and Summer Capper (and her cat Rosey).

I really enjoyed sitting with her, just talking and reminiscing about growing up on the east coast. We had dinner together a few times and Rosey would sit on my lap. Until I see you again Naomi
I love and miss you!
