Naomi Kennis Obituary

Naomi Elaine Kennis, 83 yrs. old, born August 23, 1928 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Ervin Emory and Mable (Crow) Baker passed away on September 23, 2011. Known as Elaine, Mrs. Kennis was a life long resident of Colorado Springs and a graduate of Colorado Springs High School. In the 1950s and 60s she worked at the city landmark restaurant Ruth's Oven where she met her husband Leonard "Allen" Kennis. They married in December of 1956. Mrs. Kennis was dedicated to the preservation of the area's scenic beauty and cultural history and was a dedicated volunteer for the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum and Silver Key Senior Services. Mrs. Kennis is survived by daughter: Carol Kennis Lopez, Manuel Lopez son-in-law; sister: Beverly Plehn. Mrs. Kennis was preceded in death by husband Leonard Allen Kennis and daughter Jeanette Maples. A Funeral Service will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, Monday Oct. 3rd, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Burial to follow.
