Nathan Gentry Obituary

To all of the Gentry family - we're so sorry to hear about Nathan's passing. He was the sweetest little boy in Kindergarten choir at First Pres. My daughter, Michaela, and I, truly fell in love with him. I know that he's safe in heaven now. Missing him every day must be so painful. Please know that our love and prayers are with you at this sad time.

My prayers definately are with you and your family at this most difficult time. My son is 14 and was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma Dec. 5th, 2003.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your angel Nathan looking down on all of us. Our son Nicholas was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on May 9th 2005 and is still trying to fight the beast.

Audrey is a classmate of Nathan's at Prairie Hills and spoke of him often. “Of the few boys, that were nice to me, he was the nicest”! “He also liked taco’s, like Miss Skiba.” We all pray and hope you and everyone who knew him, can find the joy that Nathan brought to this world, and pass a little on forward.

Dear Luke, Susan, Mike, Kathy, and the entire family,

I was so very sorry to hear of little Nathan's passing. I cannot imagine the sorrow that you all are feeling now, but I pray that the love and embrace of friends and family might surround and uphold you each day. Please know of my thoughts and prayerful support for you all during this most difficult time, and may the words of the "In Paradisum" prayer provide you comfort and solace, as it is addressed especially to Nathan:

"May angels lead you into Paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your coming and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May a choir of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, who once was poor, may you have eternal rest."

Our friends in St. Louis, our friends here in Canton, Il. and our many pastor friends from our home churches and from seminary have been praying for Nathan and also for all of you during Nathan's illness. Somehow, even those who had never met Nathan, felt as though they knew him and are mourning your loss, yet rejoicng as He is now resting in Heaven, finally free of his pain. Nathan was and will always be the joy of my heart, he shared his life and love with reckless abandon. The zeal in which Nathan lived his live wil stay with me all of my days and be a constant reminder of my Saviors love. That for shareing your life with me!

Luke - You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers as I learn the news about Nathan. The obituary is beautiful and Nathan's fascination with contruction equipment made be smile as I recalled my son's similar fascination at the same age. I will think of you and Nathan when I need strength to face life's challenges.

I'll miss having Nathan around the Nursery at First Pres. I remember he, and Julia were two of the first kids I ever worked with at the nursery. Nathan was 5 and only came to first service in the nursery, and went to sunday school for second service. I will always remeber how he would correct me on the names of some of the construction cars/trucks we have.

Dear Gentry family i have known about little nathan sense i was in the 7th grade for his grandmother was my science teacher and im now going into 12th grade and have had his grandfather for a teacher nathan was such a sweet boy and iloved seeing the pictures of him and hearing all the stories im so sad that hes gone but i wish you all the best and you are in my prayers and i have done bulletens on myspace in honor of little nathan and all of us students at cerro gordo highscool will continue to post them your such a wonderful family and im going miss nathan very much i was 14 when i found out about him and him now 18 he is going to be missed by all of us at cghs.

As one of his kindergarten teachers at First Pres, it was with great sorrow I heard of Nathan's passing. My heart will be a little more empty knowing he's gone.
