Dr. Nathan S. Trookman, beloved physician and mentor, dies at 58
Dr. Nathan S. Trookman, a brilliant physician and treasured mentor, died unexpectedly on October 27, 2025, at the age of 58. Nate was beloved by his family, his extended family of partners and staff, his patients and the greater Colorado Springs community. "Dr. T" will be remembered for his clinical expertise, excellent care, and his wicked sense of humor and practical jokes.
Born in 1967 in Phoenix, Arizona, Nate dedicated his life to his family, patients and colleagues. A gifted student, he graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency in Dermatology at the University of Arizona. He fell in love with Colorado the first time he visited and promptly claimed it as his home. He was the cherished managing partner at Colorado Springs Dermatology for over 30 years.
Outside of his professional life, Nate's greatest joy was his role as husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carrie, sons Jake, Matt and Ben, and his ambassador-partner poodle Lily, who accompanied him to visit patients and staff at local hospitals. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Trookman, and sister Debbie Trookman (Phoenix, AZ), in-laws Kelvin and Carolyn Hecht (Avon, CT), brothers-
and sisters-in-law Charles and Robyn Hecht (Needham, MA), Jennifer and Eric Leventhal (Rye, NY), nephews Alex and Jason, Aunt Barbara, Aunt Penny, and his many adored cousins who were his childhood best friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Trookman, and his niece Danielle Leventhal.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 30 at 11:00 am at Temple Shalom, 1534 E. Monument Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. dr Trookman was not just a special doctor but a special person that I will never forget. He helped me get through a hard time by just talking when I lost my daughter 10 years ago, such an awesome person with a big heart that he shared. I am so sorry for your family. Dr Trookman was such a nice person as well as a great dermatologist. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace. He always talked about his precious family.I was supposed to see him in January.

Dr.Trookman was an amazing physician. He always had a welcoming smile with a funny joke. He was just a down to earth person. He had so much love and respect for his family, friends and colleagues at the clinic. Both my husband and I extend our deepest condolences to his family, he was so proud of you and your accomplishments. To the staff and colleagues, your loss is deeply painful. Dr. "T" said many times how he appreciated every single one of you. To his friends, I know he was he was a great doctor but an even better friend. Hold onto your memories and unite together in love as we all navigate this sudden and painful loss. Rest peacefully my friend.

I remember the first day Dr.T joined the Colorado Springs Dermatology Clinic with Dr. Larry Cole . Didn't take long for him to build his practice. My sincere condolences to his family. Dr. Trookman was my dermatologist for many years, maintaining a watchful vigil for early skin cancer. His kind and gentle energy always made the annual visits enjoyable. Always smiling, he was a meticulous professional who never failed to offer a personal connection each time he entered the exam room.
He was an integral, trusted, and highly respected member of the Colorado Springs medical community and will be dearly missed by colleagues and patients alike. We send our deepest condolences to his family for this heartbreaking loss.

A good natured man whom I very much admired and looked forward to speaking to everytime I encountered him at family get-togethers. He left us far too soon and has created a void that will be impossible to fill! Rest-in-Peace Nate!
