Nelda Anabel Rothmeier, age 97, passed away peacefully in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 28, 2024. Born to T. A. and Garnett McMann in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado on August 23, 1927, Nelda brought tremendous joy to everyone's life she touched.
Nelda attended Cheyenne Wells High School and the University of Denver. She married Richard "Dick" Rothmeier, a high school classmate, on March 20, 1949 and they had 3 sons, Craig, Kurt and Jeff. Preceded in death by her husband and her son, Kurt, Nelda is survived by sons Craig and Jeff, her daughter-in-law, Peggy Rothmeier, granddaughter Kristin Frie, grandson Nicholas and his wife Jillian Rothmeier, and great grandchildren Austin and Addie Frie, and Stella Rothmeier.
She lived in Denver and Colorado Springs for most of her adult life and also lived in Tucson, Arizona before moving to Tulsa in 2018. Her son, Jeff, was her caretaker in her later years and they enjoyed a tremendous relationship grounded in love and compassion. Those who visited her always walked away feeling as if they were the most important person in the world.
Nelda was a proud member of the El Paso Club in Colorado Springs. She enjoyed reading, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and especially enjoyed playing bridge with her large group of friends. She travelled extensively with her husband and was very involved with the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.
Throughout her life, Nelda brought joy, charm and comfort to her family, her co-workers and her friends. Her smile and graciousness will be missed but she left a lasting legacy with family and friends.
