Nellie Crumb Obituary

Long-time Colorado Springs resident, Nellie Jewell Crumb "Jerry", left this life to be with her greatest loves, Albert W. Crumb, and their many dogs and kitties, on May 11, 2015.

Jerry was born to Peter and Lora Hollander on July 16, 1921, in Warren County, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, three sisters, son DeWayne Crumb, and grandson Nicholas Crumb.

Survivors include daughter Carolyn Rauch, daughter-in-law Candace Crumb, son Gary Crumb and wife Susan, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. There are also many nieces and nephews mourning Jerry's passing.

After meeting is Missouri and marrying in Port Arthur, Texas, Jerry and Albert traveled about the country following his job assignments, settling in Colorado Springs in the late 1940's. Jerry worked as a waitress for many years, also serving as a bookkeeper for the family business, Knob Hill Sales Barn and Knob Hill Feed and Grain. Additionally, she managed the Grandview trailer park in which the family lived.

Throughout her life, Jerry was known as a loving family woman and homemaker. She was well-known for her love of animals, especially dogs and cats. Her big heart always had room to save another "stray".

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 10am at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
