Nicholas Karras Obituary

KARRAS-Nicholas "Nick" George Karras, was born on August 24, 1930 in Gary, IN and died on December 16, 2006 in Glendora, CA at the age of 76. Nick retired from his job as a Coach Operator from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority in February 1997. He relocated from Gary Indiana to Los Angeles California in 1951 and shortly thereafter entered the United States Marine Corps from December 1951 to December 1953 and was honorably discharged as a corporal. During his military service Nick received the National Defense Service Medal. Nick settled in Covina California in 1964 and moved to San Dimas CA in 2004 where he lived with Mary Lou his wife of 31 years. His father George Louis Karras and his mother Emmeline Fiona Schofield both of Gary, IN preceded Nicholas in death. Nicholas is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Lou Karras of San Dimas, sister and brother-in-law John and Helene Plunket of Portage, IN, brother and sister-in-law Louis and Dorothy Karras of Clearwater, FL, brother and sister-in-law Theodore and Ann Karras, of Gary, IN, brother Alex and Sister-in-law Susan Clark of Los Angeles, CA, brother and sister-in-law Paul and Carol Karras of Schererville, IN, son and daughter-in-law George Nicholas and Belinda Karras of Lakewood WA, son and daughter-in-law James Nicholas and Sabrina Karras of Orange, CA, daughter Katheryn Linn Wilson of Lakewood, WA, stepdaughter Cynthia Hernandez of San Dimas, CA, stepdaughter Lia Clayton of Nash, TX, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina Hills, CA on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 1:30 PM. Viewing will be from 9:3 0 AM -7/8 12:30 PM immediately preceding the memorial services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
