Nina Olsen Obituary
Nina was born on May 16, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, to Ruben and Margarita Garcia (Rios). Nina went to Catholic school all of her life and graduated from Incarnate Word College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Nina married her current husband, David J. Olsen on July 22nd, 1995.
Nina spent her time enriching the lives of others through her acts of kindness, generosity and genuine caring nature. After 36 years as a much loved elementary school teacher, Nina retired in 2005 and had more time to share her gifts outside of the classroom. While in Colorado, Nina has been an active member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, K of C Ladies Auxiliary, Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society and Gold Prospectors of Colorado Springs.
Nina is survived by her loving husband, David J. Olsen; her daughter, Nina Garcia-Locke; son, Richard J. Locke II; stepdaughters: Erika Potila, Jennifer Picard; and eleven grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 with a Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m. all at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Nina's name to Holy Apostles Catholic Church or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
