Olive Hantz Obituary

Olive C. Hantz Battle Creek Olive C. Hantz, 82, of Battle Creek, died peacefully with her family at her side at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Olive was born December 23, 1926 in Glasgow, KY the daughter of Archie and Ethel (Martin) Alexander. She was a florist and co-owner/operator of the family business, Jim's Flower Shop. Olive married Jimmie L. Hantz in Battle Creek on November 18, 1946. She was preceded in death by Jimmie, her husband of 51 years on March 17, 1997; by her son, Dennie E. Hantz, and three brothers. Surviving are her children, Jimmy E. Hantz, Mary E. (David) Mosby, and Floyd L. (Dawnette) Hantz, all of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Mosby, Archie, Floyd and Jeremy Hantz, Jessica and Dennis Hantz and Denny Fisher; six great-grandchildren, Ashley, David, Cody, Zachary and Kristina Mosby, and A.J. and Archie Hantz; and sisters, Irene (Harold) Wildfong, Dorothy (Bob) Wildfong, Eunice Fenton and Dorla Johnson. Olive loved spending time with her sisters and family. She enjoyed doing floral arrangements, gardening and decorating her home. She stayed well informed on political issues and was always willing to discuss political opinions. At the request of the family, friends may call after 2:00 p.m. today (Friday) at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday until service time. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the funeral home with Major Thomas Riggs of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Gifts in memory of Olive may be made to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
