Oliver McWilliams Obituary

Oliver B. McWilliams "Mac" departed this life on April 18, 2016, at home with his beloved wife of 68 years at his bedside.

Mac was born in Columbus, Kansas, on November 19, 1923 to Emery J. McWilliams and Gladys Hilton McWilliams. He attended elementary school in Pittsburg, Kansas, and graduated from Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma in 1941. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 where he spent most of the next three years on Kwajalein in the Marshal Islands. He was very honored to serve his country and proud of his service during WWII. After the war he enrolled at Oklahoma State University where he met his future wife, Allene Tucker. They were married in Raton, New Mexico in 1947. Mac graduated in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration.

He coached and taught business at the High School in Keyes, Oklahoma before moving to Colorado Springs in 1955. He worked for Colorado Interstate Gas Company as Transportation Manager for 33 years.

Mac was a loving husband and father to three children: Steve, Melinda and Janis. He adored his grandchildren and they will treasure the times they spent playing basketball, tennis and cards. They will always cherish the memories of his quick wit and fun sense of humor.

Mac loved all sports, especially tennis. He was an accomplished tennis player into his eighties. He had many great matches of almost forty years with his good friend, Earl Asbury.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Allene , two daughters and their spouses: Melinda and Jim Masterson and Janis and Jim Tweeten: six grandchildren, Michele McWilliams, Kelly Koblika and husband, Zack, Nicole Maughan and Danny, David Masterson and LeLe, Kelsey Bureau and Dan, Griff Tweeten and Katie, and six great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his son Steve, his parents, stepfather and his brother, Glenn.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
