Opal Sohn Obituary

Opal left us on September 27, 2011. Opal was born July 30, 1927 in Calhan, Colorado to Otis V. Ullom and Nellie G. Smith Ullom. Opal married Wilbur Johnson in 1942 and had three sons; Gary, Ed and Eugene. Wilbur preceded Opal in death in 1979. She married Ed Sohn in June 1984, and shared their life until his death in March 2010. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Sohn, her granddaughter, Leanne Kaufman and six sisters. Opal is survived by one sister, Esther McKee, and two brothers, Glen and Teddy Ullom. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Opal was proud of her Calhan/Falcon heritage and selling fireworks for the 4th of July, her favorite holiday. In addition, she enjoyed celebrating all holidays with her family. Opal was a lifelong member of the Eagles Lodge. A Memorial Service will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance on Saturday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Opal's Life will follow at the Eagles Lodge at 1050 S. 21st Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eagles Lodge # 153.
