Otis Corley, 88, passed away on Nov. 14, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO, where he had been a long-time resident. Otis was born in Carrollton, MS, on Aug. 9, 1936. He grew up in Mississippi and later lived in Colorado.
Otis was married for 57 years to his beloved wife, Zorka, who preceded him in death. Serving in the U.S. Army for over 22 years, he retired as a 1SG (E-8). Serving in Vietnam, he earned a Bronze Star and the Vietnam Service Medal w/6 Bronze Service Stars. He earned the Soldiers Medal after saving the life of a young boy at Antero Reservoir. He was a humble Hero who enjoyed serving his community, hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, and visiting with friends and family.
Otis was preceded in death by his father, Wade S. Corley Sr., and his mother, Maddie F. Corley, of Carrollton, MS; his two sisters, Katherine and Hettie; and his two brothers, James and Wade Jr. He leaves behind his beloved nieces: Kim Wilson, Kathy Lawson, Cheri Davis, and Angel Pickett; his sister-in-law, Frances Corley; and his nephews, George Sturgis and Father Milan Sturgis.
A committal service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
