Pam and I were roommates at ROTC camp back in 1977. She was my friend by the end of the summer. We shared shelter halves in the rain of Ft. Knox, laughs at the bars, and lots of letters when we left from camp. I remember she flew all the way across the country to visit me and to collect some Pacific coast sand for a friend back East. She was one of the most interesting people I have ever met, so smart and funny. We lost touch as people did back in the days before Facebook--but I never forgot her. I was saddened to hear of her passing, but not at all surprised to hear of her accomplishments. Pam, you will be missed.

Pam...I am heartsick but know that you are smiling that enigmatic smile and hoping that I am remembering the difference that you made in my life and what you taught me about "keeping it real". You are the warmest memory I have about our Lafayette experience and I can only hope that you are sitting on a bike up there somewhere and looking for smoke on the horizon. Love you much Pam...wish I had taken the time to say it before now. I'll miss you.

I have fond memories of times spent with Pam during our years on the Pennsauken High School Marching Band. Pam was so friendly and funny. My sympathy to her family at the loss of a very great person.

When I needed a cabin mate for the Y-tour cruise in February, I knew it would be a coin toss. How fortunate I was that Pam answered my call. Pam's easy smile and shy manner showed me how lucky I was.
I got to see Pam again in June for the GCLS conference. There she was with that smile.
It's unfortunate that we will not get to spend more time with Pam in this life. But our lives are richer for having met her at all.
My prayers, thoughts and condolences to all of Pam's family and friends. She'll be truly missed.
Godspeed, Pam.

To the family: May the comfort from family and friends strengthen you during this difficult time, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Some people you know for a long time and cannot remember them. There are a rare few you know for a short time, yet they are indelibly marked in your mind and heart. Pam was one of those rare people. We will never forget her. Our sincere condolences to the family. Jean & Vicki

My deepest condolences to Pam's family. I had not seen Pam since high school, but less than a year ago I heard much about her amazing adult life through a mutual friend she had reconnected with and I am totally amazed at what a good person Pam grew up to be. I always thought a lot of Pam Butler, that sense of humor, and oh yes, her trumpet--how befitting an angel.

This was the first year I got to actually spend time with Pam at our GCLS convention and I came away richer knowing her. She had a huge smile, always a nice word and she was so outgoing - for someone who's shy that is huge. I will miss you dearly I thought we had years to get to know each other - you are in my prayers and thoughts. Soar through the heavens my friend.

Pam meant so much to me when we were high school pals, ironic outliers @ PHS. I always cherished her sense of humor and her quiet, steadfast, giving nature. Her family means so much to her. Count me among those who miss her.

It was a pleasure to know Pam. She was smart, funny, and a consistently positive person. I remember her fondly at the last GCLS, singing "I Feel Pretty" along with the karaoke machine. She told me afterwards that if you can't make a fool of yourself with your friends, where can you? I will surely miss her.

Those that are with Christ shall rise first, and those that are alive and remain shall be caught up with them, to meet Him in the air.
Pam, I miss you terribly already, but I know you were prepared, and that you have no regrets, as you accomplished what you wanted. Too soon, my friend, too soon.
GCLS and I will never be the same without you, but we are both the better for knowing you, with your shy smile and gentle heart. I will think of you often especially as I attend book functions or read a book.
Godspeed, my friend,
Heather and Mavis

May fond memories of Pam guide everyone through this difficult time. Pam had an amazing spirit, the brightest smile and a deep compassion. It was an honor to have known her.
We shall miss her but know she will be looking down from Heaven at us. Reminding us "no whining, no crying and you have to have fun".

The kind words and loving memories mentioned here are testimony to the beautiful spirit of Pam. Always a quick smile and wicked sense of humor. A patriot who spent her life serving her fellow man. An exceptional individual. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

Oh where to start. The single reason why the Butler's came into our lives was because of Pam and her trumpet! There are so many fond memories I have of Guy and I marching around at band practice and Pam telling us to get out of the way! I have so much love for her and all of you. My heart really hurts.

To Gordon and all of Pam's family: I'm so glad that I was able to call Pam my friend in high school. We lost touch over the years but through talking to Gordon and reading about all the wonderful things she did in her life, she's gone too soon but she did accomplish so much in the time she was given. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Pam,
I was sorry and sad to hear of your passing on, but very glad I got to meet you.
I greatly enjoyed our poolside chat. Such fun! What a pity we won't do that again in this life.
May I meet you again when God has drawn all things to a close. Be at peace.

I have known Capt. Pam Butler for the past 20 years. We went through paramedic school together, and she was my Captain when I joined the Colorado Springs Fire Dept. She was a good lady, a good friend, and a great officer, who knew how to look out for her crew. Pam made a great difference in this world, and she will be very missed.

I worked with Pam on the Colorado Springs Fire Department. She was always a good person to me, and I enjoyed knowing her. She was an interesting lady with a lot of hidden talents, and I am glad I knew her. When she rode her bicycle across the United States, I found it amazing that she was able to accomplish her goal. She wrote e-mails of her progress, and it was facinating that she was able to go as far as she did each day. She was a determined woman, and her ride across America was just one amazing way she proved it!

I was on the Gay and Lesbian Community funding panel with Pam. She was passionate about the agencies she supported. Pam and the rest of the group helped bring millions of dollars to El Paso County over 2 years. I am not surprised in her passing that contributions be made to TESSA. She was a wonderful member of our community.
