Pamela Carson Obituary

Pamela "None" (family nickname for No Middle Name) Carson, 68, passed away early Christmas morning at Pikes Peak Hospice in Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs. She is now at peace after a brief but difficult battle with an acute form of leukemia.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Betty Carson. She is survived by her brother, Kent Carson, and nephews Travis and Matthew Carson.

Pam was born in Salina, Kansas on January 4, 1947. As an Air Force "brat" she moved with her family from base to base around the world. She graduated from Berlin American High School while at sea on the cruise ship SS United States returning to the U.S. from her dad's overseas tour. Pam then attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a music major, and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She settled in Colorado Springs where she was married and divorced; and held a variety of jobs including tenured high school English teacher and administrative assistant positions in City government, at the Broadmoor golf course, and at USAA.

Pam was a gentle, considerate, and whimsically humorous soul, truly unique in her almost child-like and unassuming innocence. While suffering from a number of illnesses of her own, she sacrificed many years of her life to care for her aging mother. During that time Pam developed a special bond with her mom's Maltese dog, Prince, who remained her constant companion after her mom's passing.

A private service and interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers Pam requested donations be made to the Humane Society of your choice.

Pam, you were truly one of a kind! We love you and will miss you always.

There just are not words to explain this or make it hurt less. It was all way too fast and way too soon. We met my freshman year at Mizzou...and our friendship was born. Pam was kind, quirky and had such a caring soul. As we got together over the years since college...Pam was always there for all of us. I know she is in a
better place, I just can not wrap my brain around the fact that she is gone. She is thought of every day, missed with a tear, and remembered with a smile because she was one of a kind...very special. Till we meet again dear friend. Love, Curly (Marlene Seidel)

We were neighbors for only a few months. I'm sorry we didn't have the time to know each other better.

Pam we did not see much of each other in this life but it was a pleasure when we did. I look forward to being with you in the Heaven above.

Pamela graduated with the Class of 1965 at Berlin American High School, Berlin, Germany. She just finished classes and had to leave the ceremony a little early that June. Pam had a quick wit and great sense of humor. She used her humor in a positive way making little quips and comments that took the edge off of some very serious military and school announcements during the turbulent times of Berlin in the early sixties. The last time I saw Pam was with her mother at our 1999 BAHS all class reunion in Breckenridge, CO. She still had the great smile, sharp wit and kind sense of humor.

Words are poor things when we suffer the loss of a loved one. Still I want to convey how very sorry we are to hear of Pam's passing. I knew Pam via the Berlin Brats, our Alumni Association. Was so looking forward to connecting this August when many of us will be in Col Spgs for another Brat event. My deepest sympathy for her family at this difficult time.
