Patricia Auxier Obituary

Auxier
Patricia Ann Auxier
January 7, 1957 - May 24, 2018
Patricia Ann Auxier, dearly loved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, left for her new adventure on May 24, 2018 after a battle with cancer. She was the youngest of three children born to Dee and Marjorie Niehans on January 7, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Patti dedicated her life to the service of others. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Gerontology and Psychology before embarking on a career as a social worker specializing in the care of the elderly. She worked in this field in many capacities over the course of her career; some of her proudest professional accomplishments were working for the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging and serving as President of the Senior Resource Council. She also spent time working in her family's business, Dee's Western Wear, and she taught third grade for three years at Wilson Elementary School.
Patti loved the great Colorado outdoors. She enjoyed cycling with her father and hiking with her family and friends. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, reading, and seeing movies with friends. She was married twice and had one son.
Her mother, Marjorie Niehans, preceded her in death recently. Her husband, Pat Auxier; her son, Kyle Rupley; her father, Dee Niehans, her brothers James and John Niehans, as well as their spouses, children, and our extended family will all cherish her memory.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 3:00 p.m., at the Broadmoor Community Church: 315 Lake Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Patti's name to the Trails and Open Space Coalition.

Patti was a classmate at Palmer. I did not know her well, but remember her friendly demeanor to all. Obviously this extended out to others throughout her life. Prayers extended to you - her family and friends - for consolation, for hope, and for a never-ending trove of stories to share of loving memories made throughout your life together.

The Niehans and Aaland kids all ran together as children. Patti and I were able to reconnect during these past few months. I think that Patti handled her cancer diagnosis with a spirit of challenge, bravery, dignity and love and she left a very deep impression that will remain in my heart as one of the most meaningful moments of my life.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Patti was such a wonderful person.
