Patricia Clune Obituary

Clune
Patricia "Pat" Irene
(Brown) Clune
August 9, 1931
May 13, 2023

Patricia Irene Clune,at age 91, entered God's Kingdom on May 13, 2023. She was born August 9, 1931 to Donald and Ida Mae Brown in Fairfield, Maine. Pat, the loving wife of Col. John Clune and a devoted mother, and grandmother who is survived by her three sons, John, Mike, and Tim; her daughter Cathy; 10 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
Pat graduated from high school at 16 and worked as a secretary at the school upon graduation. She went into the Air Force at 22, as a public relations officer. At squadron officer's school, she met the love of her life, John Clune. The two were married in less than two months, even though she was a captain and he was a first lieutenant. At home Pat was the unfaltering captain of her squadron, always keeping the family on the correct course and enabling them to achieve their fullest potential. She raised four kids and supported her husband in all that he did. Every evening, when John would come home, they would sit and discuss his day. She gave her input freely, and he valued her insight. At his retirement ceremony, he played a montage of pictures of Pat to Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath my Wings", a tribute to their partnership throughout his career.
After John unfortunately passed, Pat remained one of USAFA athletic's biggest, and sometimes loudest, supporters. She continued to go to all the basketball, hockey, and football games where the ushers were
unfailing kind to her. Patricia was kind to everyone she encountered, and they loved her. She had a reputation as semi-royalty in Air Force Atheletics and she cherished being a part of it.
To honor Pat, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and the Air Force Academy Athletic Foundation.
