Patricia Denison Obituary

Our Mom, Patricia Nash Denison passed into the Kingdom of Heaven on May 21, 2008 after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was born to Elizabeth and Donald Nash on February 28, 1930 in New York City and will be lovingly remembered by her family and the many friends she touched in her lifetime. Mom is survived by her son; Blair Nash Denison and daughter-in-law Lorraine of Cascade, CO.; daughter Carol Denison James and son-in-law Ben of Livermore, CA.; son; Craig Denison and daughter-in-law, Stella of Hemet, CA; her sister, Virginia Wheeler of Coral Gables, FL.; and grandchildren, Polly, Deborah Jean, Jenna, Robert, Amy and Eric and several great-grandchildren. Trish graduated from Smith College in Northampton, MA., class of '51 and was a newspaper editor ahead of her time. She was very active in church and community work advocating for migrant workers, having strong ties with AAUW, serving on the YMCA board, and assisting developmentally disabled people before being afflicted with young-onset Parkinson's disease in her late 30's. She was involved in various experimental Parkinson treatment programs at the Cleveland Clinic until she moved to Colorado Springs in 1988. She especially loved family, music and literature, passionate political discussions with friends (she always had an opinion), baseball with her beloved Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbett's Field and her Smith affiliation and friends. She will be dearly missed and always loved. The family graciously thanks the people at St. Francis who cared so well for Mom. A celebration of life service will be held next month at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Manitou Springs, June 21 at 11:00. For those wishing to make a donation in Patricia's memory may do so to the Parkinson's Association of the Rockies.
