Patricia Kuhn Obituary

Kuhn
Patricia Ann Kuhn
January 5, 1932 - January 11, 2018
Pat was born to Irma Martin Davis and Lawrence LeRoy Davis in Bond County, Illinois, on January 5th, 1932. Her tenacity for life was first exhibited on that day, when at only four pounds and not expected to live, she was placed in a shoe box, kept warm near an open oven door, fed goats milk with an eyedropper, and survived. This was quite a feat in those days. This was to be the first example of her amazing strength; she was tiny yet mighty until the end. She lost her mother at an early age to tuberculosis and, as was the custom of that time for girl children, was raised first by her grandmother and subsequently by her aunt, Mrs. Roxie Martin. Though she loved her aunts, she often expressed deep sorrow for not having known her mother. Her father "Roy" also passed away, far too soon. Her older brother, Martin Davis, was her mainstay throughout her life, especially after her husband, Bob, passed away in 2000.
Pat married Robert Kuhn in Piggott, Arkansas on June 5th, 1948. They had an extremely happy marriage and had four children: Robert Kendall ("Ken"), Bradley, Martin, and ReAnn. The couple moved to Colorado Springs from Illinois in 1955, where they remained. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, her brother Mart, and her son Martin (Teresa).
She is survived by her children: Ken, Bradley (Marilyn), and ReAnn Loose(David); eight grandchildren: Stacy, Courtney, Casey, Michael, Michael "G", Kate, Renee, and Riley; and eight great grandchildren: Kolton, Parker, Benjamin, Ella, Jackson, Annie, Claire, and Thomas. Two more great grandchildren are to be born this February and her greatest wish was to meet them. Sadly, she was unable to fulfill this wish.
Pat loved her family and friends, and her little dog Teddy. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and everyone loved her. She worked for Widefield School District as a teacher's assistant for many years before retiring in her late 50's to enjoy life with Bob and her family. She made many friends there and kept in touch with them. She and Bob had many backyard barbecues over the years which were always so much fun. Their annual Fourth of July barbecue was legendary. She and Bob loved to go fishing and camping and they often traveled to Cripple Creek and Laughlin, where they were quite lucky! Back in the good old days, she and Bob enjoyed watching local stock car races. She knew all the drivers' names and certainly had her favorites. She loved country western music, and taught herself to play piano so she could play along with her CDs. She especially loved the voices of Patsy Cline and Alan Jackson. She was also an accomplished seamstress, and made the best cherry pie in the world. Throughout the past few years, we enjoyed Friday Happy Hour at Pat's house, where she'd talk of her experiences, tell stories about her exploits with her lifelong best friend Ann, and maybe tell a joke or two. She was smart and kind and generous, sweet and funny.
As her health declined, all were inspired and amazed by her ability to bounce back from hospitalizations, surgeries, and whatever else was thrown at her. She was 85 pounds of pure determination. She experienced much joy and endured much loss in her 86 years, but her son Martin's death in 2016 took an especially heavy toll on her heart and her health. Her faith in God sustained her until the end of her life on earth, and will sustain her in the next. She will be missed beyond words.
A memorial service will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80903, on Friday, January 19th at 11:30.
