Patricia McCord Obituary

August 30th 2013 marks our loss of Pat McCord.

Pat was born January 17, 1929, to Edward & Genevieve Donovan Hyde in Woburn, Massachusetts.

Pat is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bob McCord, their children, Chris (& husband Fuad Jezzini), son Tom (& wife Addy), daughter Mary Jane "MJ" (& Tom Hoover), and grandchildren Quinn McCord, and Parker McCord Hoover. For siblings Pat is survived by her sister and life-long friend, Toni Reilly, and nephews Jim Reilly, Jr. (& wife Pam), Ed Reilly, and Kevin Reilly.

Cherished memories prior to Colorado were of playing on a farm with little sister Toni Reilly on the outskirts of Boston. The moderate and healthful climate of Colorado drew Pat's family to Colorado Springs when she was 20. Pat worked as a Civil Service representative at Ft. Carson, and also as front desk reception welcoming guests to the Broadmoor Resort.

Pat and her sister, Toni, met best friends Bob McCord and Jim Reilly and shared fond memories and stories of their double dates in Bob's 49 Buick Roadmaster convertible. Pat noted her joys in life were meeting Bob McCord in 1953 and marrying in 1955, skiing in the Colorado Rockies, Polka & Ballroom Dance for many wonderful years, her dear children and grandchildren, participating & engaging her faith in the Catholic Church, and summer family trips to Hawaii & California.

Pat's message to children and grandchildren was quite simple;

"… be happy with what God gives you in life." Pat's favorite saying was straight forward as well; "A foolish man sees happiness in the distance, a wise man grows it under his feet."

Pat's kindness and appreciation for happy and simple times will be missed by many.

A Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at Swan-Law Funeral Director's Cascade Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2320 N. Cascade Ave., burial follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

I am saddened to hear of Pat's passing. Her humor and times having fun at the Dance Club are nice memories. Sympathy and prayers go out for Bob and all the family.

As the old Irish say of their finest woman, "The likes of her will not pass this way again soon" Fortunately, we are blessed already with Toni, Chris and M.J. We can see the same kind and caring ways in all of them.
With the poem,Pat thanked Bob and Tom and all the others who cared for her so lovingly. They are an inspiration to us even as we share there sadness.
As for me I find consolation in the fact that there is finally a Saint Patricia in heaven.

With Love

What I will miss about my Aunt Pat is her beautiful smile. The softness of her voice. How she cared and always made me feel loved. She had a big heart. Aunt Pat loved her family very much. Aunt Pat I love you and miss you forever and always. Thank you for all the things you shared with me in my life, and all the good times our families had together! You will always be in my heart!

Love, Kevin
