Patricia Winter Obituary

Winter
Patricia Ann
Winter
August 5, 1946
January 31, 2025

Patricia "Patty" Ann Winter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 31, 2025, at home surrounded by family. She was born in Colorado Springs to J.B. and Velma (Ehrlich) Smith. The second of three siblings, she graduated from Wasson High School in 1964.
Patty married the love of her life, Dan Winter, on June 8, 1969, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, adventure, and service, moving across the world for Dan's military and professional career before ultimately settling back in Colorado Springs. Through it all, Patty was the heart of her family—steadfast in her love, grace, and kindness.
A devoted mother, Patty poured her heart into raising her daughters, Kerri and Erin, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. She was a deeply involved grandmother, known to her grandchildren as the most loving and caring "Nana," always ready with a warm hug, a listening ear, or a special treat.
Patty had a deep faith and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. She found joy in giving back to her community and in supporting organizations close to her heart. She was a devoted member of Community Bible Study from the early 1980s and continued in leadership throughout her life. She dedicated her time as a board member of Hope and Home in its mission to help numerous foster children find forever homes. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her wisdom, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved.
Patty is survived by her daughters, Kerri (Brian) Scherer of Winston-Salem, NC, and Erin (David) Dettoni of Munich, Germany; four cherished grandchildren, Sophia and Ava Claire Scherer, and Ryleigh and Grayson Dettoni; her brother Jeff (Cindy) Smith of Colorado Springs; brother-in-law Chuck (Shelly) Winter of Colorado Springs; her sister-in-law Mary Douglas of Oscoda, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is now reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, Dan, and her parents.
Patty's life was one of unconditional love, faith, and abiding strength. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
A celebration of Patty's life will be held on February 8th at 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs and will also be available live-streamed (www.firstprescos.org/memorialservices). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to Community Bible Study or Hope and Home.
