Patrick Ray Bird passed away in Denver, Colorado on Saturday December 07, 2024; attended by his beloved wife and companion, Pamela A. CdeBaca Bird. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother.

He was born to Glen Leroy Bird and Mildred W. "Tootie" Browning Bird. Pat grew up in the rural town of Warrensburg, Missouri, and then moved with his family to Denver, Colorado. In 1965, to answer the call of his country, Pat enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After training, Pat served two combat tours in Vietnam and received accolades for Exceptional Meritorious Service to the U.S. Navy and Free World Military Assistance Forces, Republic of Vietnam. During this service, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. He also received Citations and Letters of Commendation from the U.S. Navy General Staff, the Admiral of the Navy and the Secretary of the Navy for his participation as part of the task force during "Operation Clearwater". Following his military service, he returned to Denver to start his extensive career in transportation. He owned, operated, and managed in the charter, freight and equipment transport business for 47 years. He eventually retired to Colorado Springs, Colorado, which he has called home for the last 24 years.

He was known for his positive approach to life, quick wit, and mischievous sense of humor. He brought fun, laughter and joy to those who knew him and even to those he had just met. Pat never met a stranger. He loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors of Colorado and Missouri and would spend his time visiting family, camping, boating and exploring. He will be missed tremendously by his wife, his children, family, close friends, and of course his faithful canine sidekick, "Gracie".

Pat is survived by his loving wife Pamela A. CdeBaca Bird, his son Glen Patrick Bird and daughter Tracy E. (Bird) Simmons. He leaves behind two brothers Michael L. Bird and Steven V. Bird. He has five grandchildren, Kaylee and Lindsey Bird; Trevor, Logan and Alexandria Simmons and 2 great grandsons, Jonathan Simmons and Cash Patrick Bird.

He was predeceased by his parents.

His internment, with full military honors, will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10525 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado in June of 2025.

I knew Pat in Centerview grade school, too. He was a great kid. My condolences to his family. And "Hi" Mike.

I was in elementary school with Pat,Mike, and Steve, dad to hear of your lost. Pat was so much fun, he gave the teachers headaches with his humor. I think it was 2nd grade, the teacher had to take him to the closest, and that was not good. Would love to hear more and from his brothers. God bless.

A man who loved with time and heart. Pat would call Pam to join him for lunch often or he would show up at the office with Lunch, umbrella and picnic table. He will be truly missed by all who knew the heart of Pat.

I went to school with Pat in Centerview.
Although we never crossed paths again after the family left Missouri, I always considered Pat a lifelong friend.
