Patrick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Olivia (Finn) and Elroy Mieritz. A "Pat of All Trades", he was a Lutheran minister in Wyoming and Montana, a high school Chemistry teacher in Omaha and then owner of Citadel Realty in Colorado Springs. However, his proudest roles were as husband to the late Lisa Mieritz; father to Elizabeth Mieritz, Joel Mieritz, Daniel Mieritz, and Emily (and James) Heyne; grandfather to Ryley Nuncio, Jayleigh Mieritz, Malachi Vincent and Korben, Geordi and Duncan Heyne; loving son; brother to Michael, Timothy and James Mieritz, and uncle to many. He was a beloved member of the Pikes Peak Petanque Club, practiced with friends at the European Cafe, and competed in many tournaments.
Pat's jobs as a young Wisconsinite included hauling ice blocks up from the Milwaukee River and working with his father to clean football uniforms for Green Bay under Coach Vince Lombardi (go Packers!) During seminary at St. Olaf's College, Pat visited the Middle East and helped deliver a message from the Ecumenical Patriarch in Istanbul to Pope Paul VI. As a minister, he was once run out of town for baptizing the child of an unwed mother, only to be asked back the same day to officiate a funeral.
He and his wife Lisa, married in 1983, advocated for educational opportunities for all. After Lisa's passing, Pat became interested in genealogy and found out his and Lisa's families were descended from more than one house of European royalty, including the Plantagenet dynasty who founded modern England.
Although he enjoyed his retirement, he once said that life without Lisa was like clapping with one hand. He is with his other hand now. They will be missed and not forgotten. We appreciate all they have done for us.

A memorial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on November 5, 2022, at 3 pm. [Following the visitation, a celebration of Pat's life for family and close friends will take place at the Patty Jewett Bar & Grill.]
