Patrick Niedringhaus Memoriam

The time you won the Eagle's grace We cheered you at the meeting place; All who watched stood proudly by, And saw grand vistas soaring high. But now the trail all climbers tread, Brings you home, ‘ere deeds ahead; Just past the dawn now sets the sun, Over paths and peaks yet left undone. Unlucky lad to slip away In hills where fortune did not stay; Yet early though your spirit flew We'll ever love that youth we knew. Eyes the tumbling snow has shut Will never see bright dreams be cut; And silence sounds no worse than cheers When ice and snow have stopped the ears. Now you will not swell the rout Of those who wore their promise out; Climbers whom the trail outran And the dreams died before the man. So hear, before its echoes fade, The booted foot on summits made. Forever young, forever strong, Your laughter lingers like a song. We see you, as deep loss we rue, On peaks beyond, begun anew, Above us all, bright star agleam Still climbing high as you can dream. Patrick, it was five years ago today that you left this world. We love you and miss you as much now as we did on that awful day that we lost you. We're so proud of the son, brother and grandson you were. You will always live on in our hearts and our memories. All our love forever, Mom, Dad, Andy, Grandma, Grandpa, and Grandad

Dear Leah, David and Andy, It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years since the passing of Patrick. We often think of him as we hear of other hikers/snowshoers lost to other families and know that your hearts ache. We always wish you well and think fondly of you. As Always, Jesse, Martha and Katie M.

Leah and Family,What a beautiful poem to honor your son Patrick. Leah, I have not seen you since high school, but had heard of Patrick's passing when it happened, and know how very difficult the pain can be. But, honoring him in this way is always good for the soul. Know that he is celebrating this season with the One that has made it all possible, and that one day you will celebrate again with him. Knowing this for my son also has kept me going everyday, I wish the same for you. Terri (Nelson) Lujan

Dear Patrick's family, It IS hard to believe 5 years have passed. We miss him too. On the 20th I always think of Patrick and Heather climbing Blodgett to see the sunrise. They had so much fun that day. They laughed a lot together on all their hikes. Patrick was a huge influence in Heather's life path. She is in Argentina hiking Aconcagua (sp?) and I am sure paying her respects to her friend that had such a huge impact on her life. Take care and know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. Suzanne
