In 1977, Paul married Linda (Hankins) Ransom who had two children from a prior marriage; Robert (Jeannie) Edick have three children Seth, Haley and Sanawn; and Craig Edick has two sons Riley and Killian. Together Paul and Linda shared a large family of sisters, brothers, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Paul was a fixture in the Colorado Springs golf community. In addition to his golf pro duties, he served on the executive committee of the Colorado PGA and in 1989, was named the Colorado Section's Golf Professional of the Year and Junior Golf Leader of the Year, the first to receive both awards in the same year. Throughout it all, he was a champion and a mentor to many young men who were Evans Golf Scholars as well as those who were employed by Paul at Valley Hi and Patty Jewett.
In 1997, Paul was honored with the Colorado Professional Golf Association's Warren Smith Award for outstanding lifetime achievement. He was the ninth professional to receive that accolade. In 1999, Paul was honored by the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame. In addition, he received the F. Don Miller award in 2009 from the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Paul and I will greatly miss him as he was so good to me in every way !! Patty Jewett Golf Course will always be my favorite course because of how much Paul did for the game and how he would contribute his Traditional ways of how the game should be played. He is a true ambassador to the game and life !!

Paul Ransom was my mentor and one of the best friends a person could ever have. I worked for Paul at Valley Hi and Patty Jewett for over 15 years and became a PGA professional under Paul´s guidance. Paul is responsible for any success I´ve had as a PGA professional. I´ll always remember his sense of humor and the many great times we had together. My heartfelt sympathy to Linda and his family.

So sad to hear of Paul´s passing. What an awesome person. Anyone that new Paul was very fortunate. He had the most engaging personality, love for life and kind heart. When I qualified for the US Open in 1980. He helped me with the expenses of getting to the tournament. I will always be so grateful for his encouragement and help along the way! Your the best Paul!
All our love to his family and friends.
