Paul Splittorff was an even greater human being than he was as a baseball player and announcer. People like Paul come around very very rarely in life. He will be missed by all who knew him and watched both of his great careers. Rest In Peace Paul ,we are all now
better off just by having you as part of so many of our lives.

I listened to Splitt's last turn in the broadcast booth and I still have trouble processing the reality that I won't see him there in the future. I have enjoyed researching his life and career over the past few weeks and I am so proud that he worked until he had to go. I believe that's what he wanted. I pray that God's comfort will find the hearts of those who are missing Splitt.

I knew Paul as my youth baseball clinic coach in Valentine NE when Paul played in a summer league in Valentine NE. Paul was my favorite coach and player for the Valentine Hearts of Valentine NE. I followed Paul throughout his career. Paul was a leader in my mind long before reaching the Royals and he continued to lead in everything he did throughout his career. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I knew Paul in a totally different way than most people,he was my Landlord years ago.I also did the cleaning for his rental properties,I was shocked to find out that this famous Royal, would don on his painting clothes and get right in there with me.I knew then that this man was genuine, and clueless to his fame. I feel bad becase it has been 5 years since I saw him,he gave an excellent Eulogy for a Friend we had in common. Comforting to know they are both together. So Paul, thank you for your kindness and generosity.

My heart aches with the news of Paul's passing. We were teammates on the 1965 Arlington Heights Legion baseball team. That was forty-six years ago, but it now seems like yesterday. I was saddened to learn of Paul's death. We went to the same high school in Arlington Heights,Illinois, His parents and mine were close friends. He and another pitcher,a fast baller, took the Arlington Heights American Legion Post a long way in the Legion World Series. It saddens me to hear of Paul's death. We moved into our homes across the street from each other in Blue Springs about the same time back in 1972. He was still moving back and forth between Omaha and KC at that time but then secured a spot on the regular rotation. He was a great guy and neighbor. We would play tennis in the off season and was able to see him with his children as they were coming along. Rest in Peace Paul.

I had the pleasure of growing up with Paul. We attended both grammar school and high school together in Arl. Hts. We sat next to each other in almost every class as my last name starts with Sp also. He was always a good guy and easy to talk to. The last time I saw him and said goodbye and good luck was at our graduation from Arlington High as once again he sat next to me. I've admired him from afar for many years and followed his career. He will be missed.

Wow, So Sorry to learn of the sudden passing of Paul Splittorff, especially in the wake of Harmon Killebrew's departure. As a Major League Baseball Fan from way back, this is sure getting hard to fathom, I so recall this fearless southpaw very well, he was as big a part of the Kansas City Royals Franchise as George Brett, Amos Otis, Willie Wilson, Hal McRae, among others, used to look forward to whenever Paul would be matched up against my Yankees, knew we had our work cut out for sure. I can only guess that you'll be trading some anecdotes with Mr. Killebrew joking about some of the fastball you blew by him! RIP Mr. Paul Splittorff, My Sincere Condolences To Your Family & Friends!!!!!

Joe Posnanski observed that Splitt was not one to live in the past. I am not so disciplined. And so his passing has generated not only profound sadness, but a flood of wonderful memories, of magical summer afternoons with my kids, watching him, and George, and Frank and all the "glory years" Royals play the game. On a team that epitomized "class," Splitt was the standard-bearer.
My sincere condolences to his family. And to Splitt – Godspeed. Thanks for the memories.
