Paul Strauss Obituary

Paul Douglas Strauss I, home builder and land developer, passed peacefully surrounded by his family to his heavenly home on May 15, 2014.

Paul was born on November 2, 1937, to Albert J. (Abe) and Eldora J. Strauss as the eldest son of four children near Walton, Nebraska. Later he moved with his family to Lincoln where he graduated from Northeast High in 1955. He worked for the family business, Strauss Bros Construction and Land Development from the age of 14.

In 1960 he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska, and continued to work with the family company, first in Colorado then later in Nebraska again. In 1984 Paul returned to Colorado with the family business until he retired in 2002. He and his family built thousands of homes in both states.

Paul married his wife Dixie (Wyman) on October 22, 1960, and had 53 years together. He is the father of four sons, P. Douglas II (Elise), Randall, Rev. Alan (Sharon), and C. Jed (Carrie), and two daughters, Laurel Baillie (Boyd) and Elizabeth Becker (Scott). He has fourteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are his sisters Kay Busha (Bob), and Sharon Casey (Mike), and his sister-in-law Rae, and brother-in-law, Jim Wyman (JoAnne).

Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother, Stephen, and his infant son, Braden.

Paul was a generous, kind, intelligent loving Christian man that will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and all who met him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a fixer of broken things, relationships, and hearts.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Paul Strauss will be held on May 27, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at Sunrise Methodist Church, 3255 Briargate Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunrise Methodist Church.
