Paul Walters Obituary

Paul Wesley Walters passed away on April 21, 2012 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born in Rockbridge, Illinois in 1923. Parents Roy and Vivian raised Paul along with his brother Darrell and his sisters Louise, June, and Esther on two farms near Medora, Ill. At age 19, he was drafted into the Army and served for 21 years, retiring as a Major. While stationed in London, England, he met and later married Joan Patricia Harding (deceased 2007) from Bandon, Ireland. They had four children and were happily married for 62 years. After retiring from the military in 1963, Paul attended and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Art's degree and a Master's degree in Education. In the mid 1960s, the family moved to their dream location of Colorado where Paul taught fifth and sixth grade at schools in Denver and Colorado Springs. He retired from teaching after 15 years. Paul and Joan spent their retirement running a small craft business, bowling, playing cards, and traveling. Paul is survived by his children Bridget (husband Mark) of Colorado Springs, Terrence (wife Deena) of Fort Collins, Noreen (husband Jon) of Fresno, and Siobhan of Rockwell, granddaughters Elora and Kiaya, brother Darrell, sister June, aunt Billie Gardiner, and numerous nieces and nephews in U.S. and Ireland.
