Paula Perez Obituary

Paula Schreiber Perez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on January 31, 1938, to Paul and Ann Schreiber, she cherished her birthplace of New Orleans, Louisiana.

A graduate of Dominican High School in 1955, Paula married Vernon Perez on June 29, 1957. They welcomed four children, living in New Orleans, Madison, Wisconsin and St. Louis, Missouri before settling in Lubbock, Texas, where Vernon served on the faculty of Texas Tech University.

Widowed in 1992, Paula moved to the mountains of Colorado Springs. A lover of books and the arts, she shared her passion for reading while tutoring at The Children's Literacy Center and attended symphony performances whenever possible. Her home was always filled with music.

She enjoyed traveling to see grandchildren, attending high school reunions, or visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she and Vernon spent precious time together. Paula delighted in flowers of all kinds, especially those that adorned her front porch. A member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, she loved Colorado Springs, bringing visitors to Garden of the Gods or Manitou Springs, her favorite enclave.

She leaves behind to treasure her memory always, her children, Suzanne Perez of Houston, Texas; David (Karen) Perez of Monument, Colorado; Michael (Teresita) Perez of Roanoke, Texas; Maria (Kyle) Longley of Phoenix, Arizona; her grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Austin, Christopher, Sarah, Elizabeth, Sean and Drew; precious great-grandchildren, Quinn, Hudson, Evelyn and Everly, as well as faithful siblings Linda Artigues of Metairie, Louisiana and Eugene Schreiber of Parker, Colorado. In addition to Vernon, her brother Joseph R. Hogan preceded Paula in death.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana. Private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
