Peggy Shelton Obituary

Peggy Frances Shelton, 65, devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many, went to be with the Lord on 13 June 2007. Peggy passed away peacefully in Pueblo, in the warm, loving surroundings of her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph J. Hornaday II, and father Dale H. Brown. A lifelong native, Peggy was born March 23, 1942, in Colorado Springs. Peggy leaves behind her husband, retired Col. Cyrus Q. Shelton, Jr.; mother Margaret E. Brown; daughter Kimberly K. (John) McManaman of Pueblo, CO; sons Ralph J. "Trey" (Kimberly) Hornaday III of Thornton, CO, Michael A. (Lesa) Shelton of Inverness, FL, and Patrick B. (Kimberly) Shelton of Centreville, VA; brother Steven D. (Katherine) Brown of Portland, OR. Her grandchildren, who were the true loves of her life, include Abby, Ashley, Brandon, Brody, Chloe, Drew, Jamie, Kyler, Seth, Taylor, and Trenton. They know their Nana will watch over and guide them throughout their lives. She is also survived by her niece Ann (Nick) Button and family of Portland, OR, and nephew Ben Brown, of Portland, OR. Besides her love for animals, Peggy always held a special place in her giant and gentle heart for her many dear friends, cousins, and acquaintances. Much love and appreciation are extended to the countless number of caregivers who provided Peggy with years of healthcare, friendship, and support. Funeral services will be held at Shrine of Remembrance at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2007 in Colorado Springs. Rev. Warren Hile will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either The Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care of Pueblo or the animal shelter of your choice.
