Penny Quintero Obituary

Penny E. Quintero, 66, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Colorado Springs. She was born in 1946 to Elizabeth and Raymond Garkow in Los Angeles. In 1971, Penny, a medical professional, wed Joseph "Chuck" Quintero and gave birth to their only child. She enjoyed gardening, walking, sewing, being outdoors, reading, baking and spending time with her grand-dog-ters, Aspen and Darcy. Penny lived each day with Jesus Christ, had a big heart and always thought of others first. She volunteered with her daughter's high school marching band, Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, Divine Redeemer Catholic Church and various community groups. She is survived by her daughter Patrice Lehermeier; son-in-law Hans Lehermeier; brothers Al, Jim, Joe and Kim Garkow; and sister Gail Stein. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, partner Robert Haehl Jr., father Raymond, mother Elizabeth and brother Jeffrey. A service and reception will be held Thursday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N. Logan Ave. In honor of Penny, service attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food for the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church food pantry.
