Peter Bannister Obituary

Peter Rodney Bannister age 51 of Calhan, Colorado passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born June 23, 1960 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the son of Charlie Brown and Lucille Ann (Lemesany) Bannister. On November 22, 1980, Peter was united in marriage to Laura Fox at the Calhan Lutheran Church in Calhan, Colorado. They shared over thirty-one years of marriage. To this union they shared three sons; Tim, Terry and Travis. Peter was a hard working man who understood the sacrifices that had to be made for his family. He owned and operated his own business, Bannister Construction Company for over thirty years and worked construction and concrete for over thirty-six years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed motocross racing with his children and was very active in the Sports Riders Association of Colorado. Peter was a loving and caring father who loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by the many friends and his family that he loved so much. His spirit and his love will be expressed in their daily lives forever... Peter is survived by his loving wife Laura; three sons, Tim (Kari) Bannister of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Terry (Amandra) Bannister of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Travis (Ashley) Bannister of Calhan, Colorado; three brothers, Paul (Sue), Charles and James Bannister and his close friend Carl; three sisters, Judy Gough, Billy Joe, Jenetta Carl; two sister in-laws, Gail (Al) Pridemore, Lynn (Leon) Hurst; brother in-law Dale (Cheri) Fox; seven grandchildren T.J., Melissa, Peter II, Savanna, KayDee, Kendra and Jonathan Bannister. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and many, many loving friends. Peter was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and his mother in-law. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Living Word Church in Calhan, Colorado with burial following at the Calhan Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be left in Peter Bannister's name and in care of Laura Bannister 12475 N. Ellicott Highway, Calhan, Colorado 80808. The Love Funeral Home of Limon, CO was in charge of arrangements. Peter will be greatly missed by everyone. He was a generous guy and always helped everyone out at the SRAC races. We were good friends with the Bannisters, and this is such a sad loss. Our prayers will go to the entire family. RIP Pete Bannister #662.
