Peter Bernabee Obituary

January 15, 1918 - April 29, 2008. Peter Frances Bernabee, 90, passed away on April 29, 2008 in Colorado Springs where he was a lifelong resident. He was born on January 15, 1918 in the Papeton District, now known as Venetian Village, of Colorado Springs to Samuel and Elvira (Cimino) Bernabei; he was one of seven children. Pete married Violet E. Rossi on April 24, 1938 and the couple had two children together. Pete opened and operated Bernabee Cabinet Shop for 25 years prior to retiring in 1970. After retiring he and Violet traveled throughout the US and in Europe. Pete is survived by his son Roger (wife Anita Kay); brother John (wife Flo); sister Rosemary Hall; five grandchildren: Shawn, Kirsten, Cary Ray, Lori Ann and Nicole; five great grandchildren: Carson Ray, Tyrell, Amanda, Courtney and Gabrielle; and niece Diana Horvat, in addition to numerous extended family members and friends. His loving wife of 68 years Violet; his parents; daughter Donna Curtis, brothers: Frances, Andrew and Alfred Bernabei and sister Jilda Kettle preceded him in death. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 on Friday, May 2, 2008 with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday the 3rd ; both at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Private entombment will be in the Shrine of Remembrance Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart and/or Cancer Associations.
