I was a co-worker of Sweet Mrs. Pat, and had the pleasure of seeing Pete often. He truly was a loving, devoted husband and he was always kind and pleasant to all of us. I am saddened at his passing, but I know that he and Pat are together again in the presence of their Lord. My deepest sympathy to the family -- I know you were blessed to have him as long as you did. He was a very special gentleman.

Pete and Pat were both such great people with so much spirit! My husband and I were so lucky to have Pete help us with our Pre-cana classes back in 2008-2009 here in Loose Creek at Immaculate Conception Parish as well as my husband's Catholic conversation clases before pre-cana. Such a great teacher with so much knowelege and made our classes/visits a pure delight. We are sending our deepest condolences and know that Pete is in a better place now but will be missed by so many.

~ My Memories of my Uncle, Peter C. Rohan ~ Bob Berry Jr.

Throwing a baseball with me when I was 6 in front of Mima's house on the farm, he was about 20 then -
Putting together the tent where my cousins Ricky Rohan (Dick's son) and Jimmy Rome (Shirley's son) would play a the farm house and run around with Buster the boxer dog - Mima was always quick to tell Peter to do something for me, he was “Drive Bobby down to the creamery for an ice cream!”
How Peter would “REGALE” in Mima's Cadillac ! Huge fins in the back like they were ANgel Wings - Sitting behind the big sterring wheel, right arm thrown back along the seats, windows down, blowing the early summer eve, and even then when I was only 6 the STORIES WOULD FLY - And he would get talking, on and on, I would barely understand what he ws talking about - and of course that theme would continue through the years as he would go down various paths of discussion, especially those of political nature -
When I was 8 years old, Peter would visit my Mom when we lived in our first house in California in the bay area - I would hear the two of them talking in the middle of the night, sometimes it was 3:30 or 4:00 in the morning - there was a restaurant accross the street, no more than maybe 50 yards accross a parking lot from where we lived - one of those nights where they had been talking all night, we woke up to see that the restaurant was gone, burned down in flames the night before and Pete and my Mom had talked through the night without hearing all the commotion of five fire trucks and what have you -
When I was 14, we traveled to St'Louis for Peter's wedding to Aunt Pat - what a nervous nellie he was on his wedding day, always runing around making sure everyone was being attended to and very focused on his Mom (Mima) and my Mom Dorothy - I think he had gotten a special haircut that morning and was talking up what a special barber he had gone to and ran back to his apartment to get dressed for the wedding and prompltly stuck his head in the shower to lose all the artistry that had tried to be created for looking his best -
I remember so well form that day when he married Pat, and so many times after that first time that I had met her, he was so in love with her, and so devoted to her - I thnk he made a wonderful impression on me personally about marriage, its partnership and joy that is the effect of being comitted to someone so fully as Peter was with Pat-
Any graduation, my Uncle Peter was there - 8th grade - high school - and of course Regis College -
I went to Regis because Peter had gone there and I was lucky to have two professors who had gone to Regis with Pete and were good friends of Pete's named Pat Gallagher and Dick Bowles - they would love the story about them all gooing to the airport to see JFK when he was running for President and they all took pictures with him - All I had to do was mention something about Pete when grades were being handed out to get them in a good mood -
After college Peter was in Ft.Worht/Dallas with my Aunt Pat - they had a cute house near the TCU campus in a pretty park like neighorhood - At the time he was charging through the Junior Acheivement world which he so loved, raising $money for them hob nobbing with the CEO of Radio Shack, or the CEO of JC Penny's or whatever company at the time. I happened to be in Dallas, I was in the merchant marine at the time and driving from California to Lake Charles Louisina to see a friend and eventually drive accross the country to DC where my folks were at the time - Without any warning, I drove to Peter's house in Ft.Worth and it was very early in the morning on a spring day in APril before Easter - I was 23 and had long hair going down to my shoulders and a very full beard from working on the ship looking as much as anyone could look like a hippie at the time - I dorve to the house and it was 7am or so and I parked a little down the street and quietly walked into the backyard of their house where I saw Aunt Pat getting breakfast ready in the kithcen window - Aunt Pat is there making breakfast, see's me and starts yelling for Pete - “Pete get down here, there is someone in the backyard” I thought she was going to lose it right there - Boy was he surprised to see me and happy it was only me - Pete would talk about it for years, and the story kept getting better -
Pete and Pat were at my wedding and if he could make it, roll into town wheneer there was a birhtday, family event, whatever was going on in my Mom's world -
Onetime my Mom, not too long ago had my Uncle Frankie at her house and Peter was able to be there - It was my job to provide some local entertainment (get the boys out of the house) and do something in he bay area - So we found a winery (of course) to go to that wasn't far away named Thomas Fogerty set up in the hills abouve the bay area overlooking everyting - quite a site - and we did rhe wine tasting thing - which of course was the best story telling factory for these two -story after story on the farm - how the 2 of them had gone to get a farm dog for Mima in Canada named “Sabore” or “Bessie” the cow who tormented Peter as a 14 year old when he worked with Frankie and his other brothers as farm hands - of course the Roosevelsts - Peter and Frankie sitting on Elanor Roosevelt's lap out by the pool at the Roosevelts summer estate which was right behind Mima's farm house - Mima and her husband Pop Rohan had sold the land to Frankin and Elanor Roosevelt - Mima playing Bridge or Canasta with Elanor Roosevelt -
Pete again would regale in Roosevelt history and Hyde Park and did a lot of research He found our that Roosevelt's worlwide security policy at the time of his presidency was based on “The Good Neighbor Policy” which stemmed from (accourding to the historians) the Roosevelt neighbors from their summer home in Hyde Park - and with all the visits between Elanor and Mima and even Franklin up to the Roahn Farm house to play cards right out in front of the house sitting in the car, so the President did not have to move around, The Hyde Park Rohans were certainley good neighbors to the Roosevelts - After Mima's funeral about 12 years ago, Peter took me and many of my cousines who were at the service and lunch afterwards to see the Frm house and the Roosevelts summer cottage - he also took us to the Barn where Mima's cows were kept and is still in use today as a horse facitly -
One of my favorite memories of Peter is not too long ago when my parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and my wife Sandy and I planed a suprise party for them and flew out Peter ans well as my Dad's brother Bill as special guests to celebrate - the party was in Napa Valley - I asked Pete to keep it a surprise and he came through like a champ, walking into the restaruant with bright red pants and my Mom's face in total shock that Peter was ablt to join us for the party -
Pete shared a rom with my Uncle Bill from my Dad's side and it was like the 2nd meeting of Reagan and Gorbachov - and Peter loved all that as it was “chewing the fat as good as it gets” -
“But Anyway” was his signature line for anything - taking a breadhth, bridging his conversation to a side note to furhter color his topic and relentlessly to keep the podium and ownership of the discussion - I will hear him say that forever -
Lovingly he traveled with Pat to Califirnia a few years ago in the motor home and he would want to sneak a scotch with me without getting Pat upset with him - But then he would take a sip and say “BOSS - easy on the Scotch !

Pete's enduring love for Pat, Molly and Sara - he always had a good story about homework with Molly or playing Piano with Sara, and how he would laugh and laugh ! He loved the story as much as laughing at himself -
And he was so proud of his family - deeply proud -
Its not that we will miss Peter as he will always bepart of us and be with us in our hearts - Pete won't be far from us as anytime you catch yourself saying or hear someone say “But Anyway” you will thnk of Pet and smile - thanks for the memories,
Bob Berry Jr. (12/8/11)
