Philip Jones Obituary
Casey, a big hearted guy with a love for a good laugh and a good cup of coffee is with his best friend now. He went home to be with the Lord on March 3rd after a sudden heart attack. He was born on September 25, 1959, the youngest of four sons to George and Joyce Jones of Amarillo, Texas. His childhood was spent enjoying living and negotiating with his brothers. He loved school and riding bikes with his neighborhood friends. His parents still live in Amarillo along with brothers Randy, Kelly and his wife Khristi. He has nephews and nieces in various cities in Texas and the U.S. A graduate of Amarillo High School, he enjoyed football, academic studies and friends. Following receiving a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas he became a Certified Public Accountant. His first job was with the accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand and then the Lubbock school district. During this time in Lubbock he was drawn toward becoming a missionary in Mexico City with Central American Missions (now CAMINO global). His passion was to help plant new churches and offer his administrative skills. It was in this preparation time that he met and married Leesa Taylor Jones of Levelland, Texas. Casey spent three years in Lubbock at Melonie Park Church as an administrator and then he and Leesa moved to Costa Rica for language studies. After a year of language studies they moved to Mexico City and Casey worked in church planting and as Field Administrator. One of the highlights of his life was to live and work with both the missionaries and people of both Costa Rica and Mexico. Following three years in Mexico he returned to Dallas, Texas to work in the home office of Central American Mission as Director of Accounting Services. In the Spring of 2007 he and Leesa came to Monument, Colorado to work for Vision Quest Alliance as Accounting Services Director. Casey loved his family, marriage, co-workers and friends. He was often found downhill skiing and hiking. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, John Grisham novels, Far Side comics and drinking many cups of coffee. Over the years he worked with children's church and enjoyed meeting with the men's group at Woodmen Valley Chapel here in Colorado Springs. Prayer and bible study were a central part of his days and life. A Memorial celebration of his life will be held at the Woodmen Valley Stone Chapel at 209 E. Woodmen Rd. at 1:00 pm. on March 23, 2012.
