Philip King Obituary

Philip Lee King, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Keevil, Arkansas, September 17, 1931 the first of three children born to the late Elvis and Doris King.

Phil retired as a Major in the Air Force after serving his country for 20 years. He became a Real Estate Broker for his remaining career.

Family and friends were extremely important in his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice skating, reading, writing, traveling and taking rides. He had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano by ear. He was a very intelligent and learned man.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Ruth A. King; loving children, Phyllis Svenby, Roxanne Goodrum and Ruth Ann Johnson; precious grandchildren in birth order; Derrick Svenby, Stephen Goodrum, Aaron Svenby, Candace (Svenby) Williams, Joshua Johnson, Tamara Goodrum, Jacque Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Heather (Goodrum) Escobar, Andrea Svenby, Christina Svenby, Audrey Goodrum, Sarah Svenby, and Julia Johnson; and 16 great grandchildren and 2 on the way and a host of precious family members and friends!

Viewing will take place Monday, January 18, 2016 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs.

A Celebration of Life (memorial service) is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 10:30 at Living Hope Church, 640 Manitou Blvd., Colorado Springs.

Full military honors ceremony for burial will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Ruth A. King, P. O. Box 66, USAF Academy, Colorado 80840-0066.
