To those who knew and loved Phillip Edmundson, (I knew him as Ed,)
Know that to this day I am, and for the rest of my days will be, tremendously sorry for his death. We didn't speak much in the time we served together- at least not with many words. Ed did speak to me in other ways, when he would grab my shoulder to prevent me from stepping into a crater at night while I was trying to get used to my nightvision, or when he would motion for me to keep my head down and in better cover. He did those things even though he didn't know me very well, and if anything, probably resented me some at times.
I was his medic the day he died.
I'd like you to know I've gone over it maybe 5000 times, sometimes in dreams. I still remember it very well. I believe someday, in my dreams, I will be shown a way to go back and prevent him from being taken from you, and I will do so, and then I will find you and let you know. Someday. But that's not what brings me here leave a post.
I wanted to let you know that I appreciated the way he looked out for me, for no other reason than I was his medic at the time, and that I also appreciated what kind of person he was, and the example he was for others that knew him or knew of him. It was with him in mind that on March 24th, 2020, my first child was born and he was named Phillip. He will know of the good things I knew of your son and they will never be forgotten, even amongst those he only knew briefly.
If you do see this message, I hope it finds you safe and well.

Cousin, I miss you dearly. We were very close growing up and although we went different ways as we grew older, I still thought of you. You were a quiet person. I never knew your life would be cut so short. I know you had alot to give. I love you and I know I am not the only one. You took a step to do something most people would have been afraid to do and put others before yourself. I can't say enough how brave you were. Love always,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Phillip, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

A hero is NEVER fogotten.Rest well brother, that star spangled banner will FOREVER wave,Your name stamped in steel forever clutched in the tallons,And spirit WILL forever soar in the symbol of our great nation...

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Dear Family,
I am truly grieved by the loss of Phillip. I can only imagine how proud you are of the man he became. I am saddening on so many levels. I did not have the honor of knowing Phillip even though he is my cousin, and I have wanted you all in my and my families life for several years. I truly, truly regret not making the trip to see you all. I am saddening that I did not know he was in the military and I just found out 2 days ago that he passed away serving our Country. As I spent my day on the 4th of July- I was constantly reminded of his sacrifice and dedication to our country. I appreciate his sacrifice and hope that God will give you immeasurable strentgh during this difficult time. Please do not be afraid to contact me- as I would love to visit with you. I am so sorry for your loss. I have the upmost respect for our military. I have a lot of family members that have been in the military, Army mostly, and some Air Force. I am thankful everyday that we are living in a country where we are free to be what we want to be and do what we want to do. I am also humbled at exactly what that means. There have been lots of lives lost to ensure that our freedom prevails. I can only tell you that you should be proud to have a son that helped to make sure our country remained safe. I know your loss will be felt by you and other close family members for a long time, and I just hope that God will give you the grace to be at peace.

To have a mindset to want to serve your country is an honor in itself. To actually serve is a higher honor. Phillip had the mindset to serve, he served his country, and he died in the process. Philip, you died for me and my son and his children to come. There are no words in the English language that I could use to express my sincere gratitude for your sacrifice. To Mom and Dad: you will miss him terribly, but know that someone is praying that you will have peace. I can only imagine your pain. The one who allowed him to be taken away from you will be the one who will give you peace. Keep your hands in God's hands. This is so easy for me to say because I still have my son, but it is also the reason I have so much compassion for you. God loves you and so do I.

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. Psalms 89:15. I pray that through the Lord with the help or all your friends and family and the unknown prayers are lifted, love is given, tears are shed for the life that lived through this young man, that peace will settle through all of you and the family. With God all things are possible. What an encouragement the troops have given to us here in America. And until we go home to be with the Lord may we still have our Freedom here in America. Thank you for your son and for giving him the support he needed. May God Bless you and be with you.

THERE IS NO GREATER GIFT THAN LOVE, WHICH IS EXPRESSED IN SO MANY WAYS. YOUR SON SACRIFICED HIS LIFE FOR THE LOVE OF HIS FELLOW MAN AND FREEDOM FOR ALL. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS TO EXPRESS HOW DEEPLY APPRECIATIVE I AM OF YOUR SON AND WHAT HE DID FOR MANKIND.
YOU HIS PARENTS AND FAMILY DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB REARING THIS YOUNG MAN TO BE THE EXCEPTIONAL PERSON HE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE.
TO YOU THE FAMILY, THE LORD'S HAND IS THERE FOR YOU TO HOLD AS HE WALKS WITH YOU DURING THIS TIME AND THE DAYS AHEAD. THE LORD SAID, "DO NOT FEAR; I WILL HELP YOU."

To the family of Spc Phillip Edmundson. Your son was part of one of the greatest fighting machines to date. He was there doing a job that most people would never is their wildest dreams want. Your son understood what it meant to be part of the MANCHU's as did I a few years back while I served with them. As I look through the list of names of soldiers that have given the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq. I can't help but to look for fellow MANCHU's. As I have for the past two years and this morning when I saw Spc. Phillip Edmundson's name , I say to myself "Keep up the Fire" and thank you.
