Phillip Montgomery Obituary

Phillip Montgomery passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 79 years of age. Phill was born in Denver, Colorado to Roy and Elnora Marie (Woodruff) Montgomery. He attended schools in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs High School. He attended the College of the Pacific in California. After a stint with the U.S. Air Force, he worked for Bechtel as an inspector engineer at the Air Force Academy while it was being constructed in the ‘50's. He left for California and was employed as a surveyor/hydrologist for East Bay Municipal Utilities Department. At a later date, Phill returned to Colorado and worked for his brother, Don, who owned Rocky Mountain Floors. In the late ‘80's, his passion for California lured him to the Bay Area of San Francisco where he resided in San Mateo. He soon worked for Floor Seal Technology, in San Jose, as a sales representative to many of the well known high tech industries as they ascended to their world renown fame. At the turn of the 21st century, he moved to Westlake Village and continued this work in the Los Angeles area. Upon retirement, he moved with his wife, Ann, to Colorado Springs. Phill was a collector of military memorabilia, loved history--especially military, and was on a constant lookout for that one crossword puzzle that could stump him. (He never found it.) Additionally, he loved to go on jaunts in the Western states. Phill is preceded in death by his brother Mel, sister Lois Unzicker, and stepson Michael Brown. He is survived by his wife Ann Montgomery, her children, Maryann (Tony) Ranallo, Cindy Abrams (Sandy Williams), Matthew and Mark (Amanda) Brown; his children: Phillip Jr., Janeen (Bruce) Wood, Pamela (Leroy) Fox, Vallery Cox and brother Don (Karen). He also leaves 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be a private Celebration of Life with family. His ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean as per his wishes.
