PHYLLIS FAE ROGERS BURKS

PHYLLIS BURKS Obituary

May 10, 1927 - December 19, 2008

Phyllis was born in Luray, Kansas to LindleAnn Irene Rogers and Bruce Abner Rogers. Her family moved to Colorado Springs in 1940. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1945 and shortly afterword met and married the love of her life, Edward Franklin Burks. Together they raised three daughters, Linda Gay Jent, Sydney Kay Moon and Janice Ann Wright all of Colorado Springs. Phyllis worked along side her mother at the Knit Shop for 27 years and loved every minute of it. She had a large, loving family and many dear friends. Although she was ready to go home to God she said she was going to miss them all very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, her sister Connie and one grand child Rusty. We held a Family Memorial for Mom on Christmas Eve and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice.

Grandma, I am going to miss you more than words could ever say. Calling home will never seem quite right again. Your my strength to carry on. You were always so strong in your faith, it made me realize that my issues were nonsense. I think many times of when we were growing up and living with you and Grandpa, on Cheyen blvd and smile. I miss you Grandma. Ricky and I are so very sorry that we couldn't get home. But your in our heart's and always on my mind! I Love YOU Annie

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Phyllis, she and I talked a couple of times on the phone. What a blessing to talk to this precious lady who so very much impacted Candice (my daughter-in-law)'s life. Her legacy has been passed on to the next generations. I know I will get to meet her one day. God bless all of her descendants who have wonderful long-lasting memories of this dear lady.

Dearest Grandma or as my Alex once said the greatest greatest Grandma...I miss you so much! It hardly feels like you've gone. I have started to pick up the phone a few times to call you and tell you about my day. i will miss our weekly talks. You were so good to remind me to find humor in situations with the kids and to treasure them.
I know you are free from sickness and pain and in the presence of our most holy Lord. I will see you there someday, this I know.
I was given a precious poem and the line that stuck out the most to me was that you would need not plead any longer for freedom from pain or for strength to endure. You are free.
I will always love you and forever be grateful for the legacy of faith you have prayed into me and that I will pass onto our children.
I love you and I rejoice knowing that "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow..."
Love, Candy

Grandma,
You were the heart and soul of our family. The one we all turned to for wisdom, guidance, and positive outlook, no matter what the trial & tribulation might be. You were my hero and are sorely missed. THANK YOU for always being there for me. I love you Grandma, and will see you on the other side.

I miss you Mom. You were such an inspiration to me. There are so many good memories from the time I was little to the day you left us. God allowed you to depart so gently and quietly from us. I know you are so much better now and I can only imagine the happiness you felt when you and Dad's Spirits reunited. This is not goodbye, just so long until we meet again in God's great plan for our future. Love you, Sydney
