PHYLLIS JUNE WILLIAMS
June 14, 1931
March 1, 2021
Phyllis June Williams passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born on June 14, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa to Jeanette (Romer) and Harry Leasure, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold W. (HW) Williams, her only sister, Myrna Spensley, and three half-brothers, Ridney, Bernard and Harry. Survivors include three sons, Mark (Joy) Ernster of Colorado, Gary (Donna) Ernster of North Carolina and Jay Ernster of Arizona, as well as three step-sons, Larry (Marcia) Williams, Scott Williams and Ron Williams, all of Colorado. Phyllis was extremely proud of her grandchildren, Denny Ernster, Erin (Toby) Saben, Kevin Ernster and Elliott Ernster, in addition to 11 step-grandchildren. She was great grandmother to five and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she remained close throughout her life.
Although Phyllis was born in Clinton, Iowa, she spent the majority of her life in Colorado Springs, which she considered her hometown, having relocated to North Carolina in the last several years to be near family there. She was a loving wife and mother, who spent her time caring for others, especially the elderly. Phyllis was proud to be a regular donor at the Penrose Blood Bank for many, many years.
Arrangements are pending with services planned for a later date in Colorado Springs. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Kindred Hospice, 136 Roxboro Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the caretakers and staff at Cadence Assisted Living of Wake Forest and Kindred Hospice for the wonderful and attentive care provided to Mrs. Williams.

Wanted to share our most recent picture of mom taken last week. She really looked forward to the cookies we brought every week.

I loved Aunt Phyllis! She was good natured, calm, and independent in a quiet way. She was one of the rare family members with the same wheat and hazel eye color and yellowed tinted skin as mine - a Leasure trait through the Boden line. She modeled strength by her duty and also by her freedom of choice later in life. She had a fun loving side and an easy laugh. I'm glad I got to see her at various times in her travels and mine. Eternal peace.

Mom...you were so much more than a mother-in-law to me...more like a mother. I will never forget all of the amazing times we had together. It was you who came with me to pick out my wedding dress when I married your son. It was you who flew out to California with me when my dad passed away. It was you who drove back home with me in his car and nicknamed our adventure "Thelma & Louise". It was you who went on a Caribbean cruise with me when I turned 50 - a first for us both. There is so much more...I could go on and on. It was you who never had a cross word, loved us unconditionally. I love you with all my heart mom and will miss you forever.

My Mom was a great mother, wife and role model. Donna and I will miss her dearly. Always smiling with a kind word with whom she met. She will be dearly missed by our entire family.
