Time may heal my broken heart, but it will never erase the memory of my big sister and dear friend Precious. I shed yet another tear today thinking of her. No one can or will fill the hole in my heart that her passing has left. I endeavor to make it to heaven, not just for my own soul sake, but to once again rejoice with you in eternity. Until we meet on the other side......

This past year has been very very different because I have had to learn to accept a sibling circle that is broken. I cannot express how the moments of 'remembering' have become so precious of Precious. My consolation is that she is in a better place.

I just found out today. You were my daughters first principal. You taught me how a principal is supposed to be and gave my daughter the love for learning she has obtained. The little kindergartner you acquired is now graduating into 6th grade a very intelligent child. Thank you for touching so many lives and for making the school we started our love of education wonderful.

I was really sadden to hear of the passing of a "Sweet Spirited Saint" in the name of Precious Iglehart Broadnax. Dr. Precious Broadnax was one to touch your heart and spirit even as a young woman back in the days when we were mere school girls at G. W. Carver. She always had a 'sweet spirit' about her and I know her legacy as an Educator, Wife, Mom, Sister, Aunt shall live on in the memories of all her love ones. The word tells us that to be absent from Man is to be present with the Lord. My condolences for the Iglehart & Broadnax family.

Presh was the baby that got bumped from the nursery by the birth of Tina. Without envy, we always dubbed her as the 'pretty one' of us. I'm flattered that so many people think we look alike. My sole comfort for such a loss @ this time is the truth that we'll be together again in God's tomorrow.

I met Precious Broadnax a few years ago at an Edison Principals' conference when my school was drafted into the Edison Alliance. By her words and actions, she convinced me of the value Edison training would bring to me and my school staff. I admired her accomplishments as a principal and appreciated her warmth, humanity, and the joy she brought to her work. Our Father took her home and when she met Him surely He said "Well done, good and faithful servant." Precious Broadnax will be missed - but her legacy of facing and overcoming resistance to the goal of educating all students will endure.

Precious words cannot say how much you will be missed and the times we shared together from the laughfter to the sadness, yet we always manage to find that silver lining to brighten each other day during a hard time. I think one of the most thing I'm going to miss that we shared, is the telephone calls and e-mails that came right on time when we both needed them and for some reason they were never late in coming. Even though you may be gone, you will never be forgotten and you will alwyas have a special place in my heart.

To: The Broadnax Family
Yours is a grief – the depth of which we cannot possibly know. Yours is a sorrow that we cannot begin to fathom.
But through it all, we come to offer you our feeble words of consolation.
Dr. (Missionary) Precious Elaine Precious Broadnax was a woman of intelligence, integrity, professionalism and unbounded courage. Her faith in God was unmovable. In the quietness of her home, she knew that – in His own set time - would work everything out!
She knew that if God was ready for her to come home – in His own set time – He would say when!
And sometime last week, God said in His own set time, “My child, I am ready now for you to come home.”
He said to Death “Go yonder Death – bring Me My Servant, but this must you hear – lift her gently – she must feel NO more pain – lift her gently – she has Heaven now to gain”!
Then God turned to the wind and said “Wind – do not blow – My servant is coming home and no chill must she know”!
Then God turned to river Jordan and said “Jordan check your flow – flow gently Jordan, till my child servant reaches shore”.
Then the winds ceased to blow and the rain ceased to fall and nothing happened in the elements at all – and a great quiet prevailed – yes – on the earth and the sky and even in the briny deep.
And God looked down and smiled and His servant Precious – went to sleep!

Sister Broadnax was a wonderful principal, woman of God, and friend. She was the one that I would enjoy seeing the most when I went to church. I loved it when she sang and spoke. She brought so much life to the Israelite Church and I will miss her greatly. I'm sad that she met such a tragic end, but I hope her pain no longer exists where she is now. She's brought so much happiness into this world, but now it is time for her to rest. We'll all miss you.

Precious and I were childhood friends from Waco, Texas. I was so elated when we reconnected our friendship in 2010.I have so many fond memories of our childhood and the bond we shared. The Iglehart family was such an Inspiration to be around, all of them were talented in singing, and musical Instruments. I am so proud of her accomplishments as an Educator, true and loyal to her family and friends. Well...Precious Elaine, I'm not going to say goodbye, but see you later. My prayers are with Nicole, Michael, Matthew, and the entire Iglehart/Broadnax family. May the power of the Lord be with each of you.

I was Precious' secretary during her tenure at Abrams Elementary School. To say that she was a mover and a shaker was a definite understatement ~ she got the job done! She had such a wealth of knowledge when it came to educating kids ~ and her mantra was that we always do right by the kids. But her face never lit up more than when she was speaking of her own kids ~ she was so proud of her children. Many memories have been flooding back the last few days. Precious probably gave me the single best piece of advice that I've ever been given, and for that, I will be forever grateful. My heart is heavy for our loss here on earth, but we WILL see you again!! Rest in peace, Precious. You have certainly earned it.

To the Broadnax family, we will continue to pray for your strength and courage. May God surround you in his love and grace.

Precious,
You are a woman of God and a friend to mankind. You inspired so many. Your drive took you to great heights in education. All of your efforts helped children. Thank you for your friendship and the opportunity to assist you in your doctorial research- It was fun! I thank you for allowing me to shine by letting me share my knowledge with the staff at Abrams. That made me a better teacher. I will never forget what you said at my retirement “How can you ever replace a Karen McKinney? Then you giggled and said we can't, that there was no one quite like me (was that a compliment? LOL). Now you are with our Lord and I ask “How can we ever replace you? We can't , there is no one quite like you. Rest in His arms my friend. We will all be with you one day.

I first met Precious as a young teacher in the early 80's as we taught together at Freedom's Trail Elementary School. She was a great support to me in those early years. Later she became my principal at Abrams Elementary School and pushed that very special 4th grade team until we excelled and were honored with a blue ribbon award in Washington D.C. where we roomed together and celebrated our achievement. Our paths have crossed off and on since then and we would reconnect and laugh. She is gone too soon from her earthly life and will be missed. Her legacy will live on in the many students whose lives she touched and the many educators she influenced. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

Dr. Broadnax was one of the toughest principals I'd ever worked under, but due to how much she pushed me as an educator my career has blossomed ever since. She is the reason I received endless hours of training and went on to be a trainer myself in the area of writing. My career has never been the same and I was blessed to have been held accountable by her so early on in my career as a young, inexperienced teacher. Years later I one day took the time to write her a long e-mail thanking her for making me so mad at times, but really seeing the value I had as a teacher and how I could become better and for pushing me so hard. I saved her e-mail back to me as her words were so kind and so sincere. She said she only pushed the best teachers to become better. I learned to teach bell-to-bell from her- never waste a minute of instructional time. I learned to hold myself accountable for what I really was teaching and WHY I was teaching it. I'm so thankful today as I read this that I did take the time out of my busy life to thank her for all that pushing because it really has paid off for me tenfold! My heart is heavy that she died too young, but she is in a better place. I learned a lot from her for sure and will always remember her. God bless her family at this tough time. She is at peace.

I had the pleasure of working as a teacher under Dr. Precious E. Broadnax a few years ago. I will always remember her passion for learning and teaching. Precious brought her grace, wisdom, knowledge, leadership, undying push for achievement, and amazing sense of humor with her to her role at the Colorado Department of Education. She was able to share all of this with those of us fortunate enough to call her a colleague and a friend here in the department, but more than that, she was able to share it with districts across Colorado. The department was fortunate to have her and the kids of Colorado have benefitted from her short time here. It is difficult to express how much she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and many, many friends at this time.

As she lead our school as principal for 5 years, she devoted herself to the training of both staff and students with tireless dedication. Words cannot express my feelings for the loss of my big sister. I will forever carry in my heart all the memories we shared of laughing, talking, crying, praying. My matron of honor, my confident, my hero. There was so much to be proud of and admire about my sister. I won't say gone too soon because she accomplished more in 56 years than most who lived longer. She just had an early arrival to her final heavenly destination. She truly finished her work here! much love and my heart felt condolences to Nikki, Mike, Matt, Anya, and Jathan. And god shall wipe away your tears...
