Priscilla Coleman Obituary

PRISCILLA ANN COLEMAN Priscilla Ann Coleman passed away on April 10, 2009 in Colorado Springs. She was born on August 28, 1965 to the late Raymond I. and Foo May Coleman at Fort Carson, Colorado. A life-long learner, Priscilla began her education at Pinello Elementary School where she mastered recess, marbles, and kickball. She then moved to The Colorado Springs School and was involved in Student Council and athletics. Her favorite memories of CSS were First Weekend and field trips. She especially liked "solos" and it fueled her passion for writing and the outdoors. Her search for more competitve sports led her to Widefield High School and then on to Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC where she graduated with honors. Priscilla attended the University of Northern Colorado and graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in Omaha, ! one of her favorite jobs was covering human interest stories for the local television station. It was in Omaha that Priscilla's only child, Georgie, was born. Of the many accomplishments she achieved in life, the one that she treasured the most was being Georgie's mother. She was completely dedicated to making certain that Georgie's days were filled with love, laughter, and family. The two of them radiated joy. After returning to Colorado Springs one of her favorite jobs was working for American Airlines. Never one to sit still, she continued to work until her health started to fail. Priscilla was usually the life of the party and loved fishing and fireworks, cookouts and Cadillacs, and drawing and dancing. She loved rocks, roses, and robins and tv tag, tambourines, and teasing. She also loved horses and helping others, skating and snow, and music and Mama Foo's cooking. Priscilla cherished each and every friendship she made. Her positive spirit had a unique way of looking past faults and focusing on the good. She is thankful for those who loved and supported her. She was especially proud of her nephews Anthony Coleman and Vincent Turner, Lee Coleman and Chris Coleman, Oscar Harrell and Maxwell Harrell, and Parkar Coleman. Her only niece, Paiton Coleman, was her heart and is the next "PC" so watch out! Priscilla believed that three things sustained her while she was here: love, prayers, and excellent care from her physicians Steven Fox, MD and John Lynn, MD. Priscilla will be dearly missed by her mother Foo May Coleman, brothers William Lee (Carol) Coleman and Raymond I. (Michelle) Coleman, Jr., and sisters Mamie (James) Turner and Camilla (Oscar) Harrell and niece and nephews previously mentioned. Also greatly saddened are mom and dad, Ronald "Pops" and Gladys Pemberton and Ronnie and Melodi of Alexandria, VA and very special friend Owen A. Moore, as well as numerous family members and friends. Priscilla was preceded in death by her son, Georgie Coleman, father, Raymond I. Coleman, and grandmother,Shi Chen May Ya. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Israelite Church of God in Christ, 123 Security Boulevard, on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. To All Mothers: Please remember to hug your daughter each and every day. The one you give just might be the last one she gets. Sincerely, Mama Foo.

I am saddened to hear about Priscilla's passing. She was one of my first friends at CSS, my memories of her are all so good. I remember her warm smile and her kind spirit, a beautiful soul. We shared the best of times. Blessings to you Maimie and Camilla and your family, you are in my thoughts.

My Sista and Friend Mamie,
I am deeply saddened by your lost. Coping may be difficult for a time. Try to be mindful that hard times don't last always and joy really does come in the morning. Lean on our Heavenly Father and he will see you through these trying times. Your experience has made me reflect on my relationship with my closest blood sister. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking about the last time that I really told her how much I loved her and what she has meant to me. I must admit it was too far and few between times. I cannot remember the last time that I listened tentatively without interrupting or trying to give advice. The one thing that I do remember is, letting her leave our conversation with harsh feelings and not humbling myself to convey a different message. It is times such as these that make us take stock at what is important in life. As we both know, that life is too short to forget, for tomorrow is not promised to anyone. What I have come to realize is that relationships are extremely important. I just want you to know, that I love you with a sincere Godly love and that I treasure our friendship. Know also my sister that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. I am there for you – Best strong, be encouraged. Let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.
Love and peace your sista and friend

To the Coleman Family,

I work with Mamie and she has become a dear friend. I can only imagine the wonderful relationship Mamie and Pricilla have had. I consider Mamie the older sister I never had, she and I have a special bond and it breaks my heart to know that she and your family have lost Pricilla and the grieve you are feeling. It’s clear that she had a big heart and great spirit. Be comforted that she is no longer in pain and know that her love for all of you is everlasting.

Mrs. Coleman and Priscilla,

Over the short two years that I have gotten to know you both I witnessed a love that only a mother and daughter can have. Our loss is great and it has been a true honor Priscilla to have met such a strong, beautiful woman like her mother.

Peter and I will miss you and your smile but have great memories to hold onto.

Mrs. Coleman, we hope you and your family find comfort in the memories in the days and weeks ahead. Please know we are here for you.

You will be greatly missed and I will always love you like a sister. Be free of your pain and know you touched so many people's lives. Thank you.

Priscilla was an amazing individual. Those who never had an opportunity to meet her or to be in her presence, missed "feeling the glow" of her spirit. She possessed rear, undefinable qualities.
Priscilla always, always, always exuded joy, laughter, and hope. She literally sparkled. TOTALLY LOVABLE. UNIQUELY DIFFERENT. UNFORGETTABLE.
Love, heartfelt prayers, and sympathy are being extended to the Colemans and the Pembertons.

Pricilla
I was just thinking of your Dad this week. It has been 30 years this spring since we lost him and now we loose you too. I remember you and I playing in your yard as neighbors in Security. I missed you when we left Security and then we met up again in high school. Love and Light. Kim (Olemeda) Shatteen

Priscilla was a childhood friend that was always positive, happy, and good natured. She will be sadly missed. I regret that I didn't get to visit with her during my recent visit to Colorado Springs. I do know that I will charish the fond memories that I have of our childhood friendship. As I tell others, remember the happy times and good memories to help get you through these tough times, but know that Priscilla is at peace and not suffering any longer. Memories are forever, and I will guard mine.
Her pain is gone, as ours begins. Healing will take time and Faith.
Her legacy will live on through all of us Blessed to have known her.
I was so blessed - to laugh with her, play with her, cry with her, talk with her, and sometimes just be there to hold her hand, as she was there to hold mine. She is the true definition of friend. Kind, Loyal, Trusting, Giving. Always willing to give you her smile, when she knew you needed one. To the Coleman family, my thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. Remember I'm only across the street or a phone call away.

Pri, I am honored that you called me Sister, I love you, and I will miss you terribly. Rest now, your fight is over. Be at peace.
