Ralph Cox Obituary

Ralph Odell Cox, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully while a resident of Brookdale Broadmoor. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Robert, and his wife of 57 years, Bertha.

Ralph was born in Indianapolis, IN on October 19, 1929 to James and Sally (Matthews) Cox. Prior to joining the army, Ralph came to Colorado Springs to visit an aunt and uncle, and through them met his future wife, Bertha. They were married December 12, 1951. After serving 2 years in the army, Ralph came back to Colorado Springs and went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone, where he retired after 40 years. After his retirement from the phone company, Ralph drove for Avis Car rental for several years. Ralph and Bertha spent many years dancing their way around Colorado Springs with many square-dancing groups that they belonged to, and through the groups met many wonderful friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Grace Schwarz, of Sacramento, CA and Barbara Zoeliner, of Whither, CA; daughter, Nancy (husband David) Jenkins of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Larry (wife Kathy) Cox of Columbus, OH; daughter, Vivian Childers of Dumas, TX; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.

Just learned of Ralph's passing. Growing up knowing both Ralph and Bertha provided a level of comfort and love that has stayed with me my entire life. I so appreciated their devotion to their family and to our God. Losing them is tantamount to losing my own parents. I am thankful to the time I was able to spend with them and will always cherish their memories.
