Randy Shipp Obituary

Randy "Ranger" Shipp passed away peacefully at his home after a very courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his wife and family early Sunday morning November 9, 2008. Randy was born in Colorado Springs August 15, 1955, living in Colorado his entire life. He was very proud of being a Native of Colorado. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Carol; his brother, Gerald Shipp (Karen), and his sisters, Phyllis Lippold (Alan), and Connie Newland, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Milton and Anna "May" Shipp. Randy had several loves in his life, first and foremost "playing with his "BIG" Tonka Toys in the dirt", as one of the best heavy equipment operators in Colorado Springs for G.E. Johnson Construction. He was a mentor to lots of young operators. Secondly, riding his Harley and other motorcycles for most of his life. He loved "being in the wind". Because of his love of motorcycles, he always was active in Motorcycle Runs for Charity and participating and helping with many fund raisers. You could always count on him to make you laugh, whether it being a good joke or story, or just being his ornery self. Everyone who knew him has some kind of funny story to tell about him and laugh. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and never missed cheering the Broncos on. Randy lived his life to the fullest and we are all better persons for having known him. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 14, 2008 at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. 80904, With a Celebration of his life at Thirsty's Tavern, 2028 Sheldon Avenue, Colorado Springs, Co. following the services.
