Raymond Blake Obituary

I have Raymond to thank for helping me make the transition from volunteer firefighter to career firefighter / fire inspector. I worked with him when he was with Woodmoor FPD, then at the Air Force Academy and here in Baghdad, Iraq. I also made the "Emergency" Trip home for the funeral but missed it by a few hours. I will miss the knowledge that he so willingly shared and his expertise in code enforcment. I will miss his friendship as well.

I was sad to learn the news about Ray. We grew up playing together at Ivywild and South Jr. My prayers go out to the whole family.

I worked with Ray when he was employed at the Air Force Academy prior to him going to Iraq a couple of years ago...very sad to hear about this and he will be missed very much. I loved working with him, he had a wonderful heart and was a wonderful person!!!!

I knew Ray back in Elementary School, and though I've had no contact with him for years, I'm sad to hear of his passing. May God comfort those close to him.

Cherish the many sweet memories you have. I lost my brother suddenly too ... my thoughts and prayers will be with you Vicki and your family!

Raymond's sister is my very good friend, and my thoughts and prayers are with her and all of Raymond's family and friends.

I knew Ray from Stratmoor Hills Vol. Fire Station where he worked with my brother and dad. Ray was a great guy. I remember him playing basketball with us or showing me around the fire trucks when they werent busy. We'll miss you Ray say hi to Dave for us!

I worked with Ray at the Stratmoor Hills Vol Fire Department in 1993 through 1997. He was a great teacher and an outstanding firefighter! Raymond was a blessing to have as a member at Camp Slayer Fire Department in Iraq...and his work is still protecting soldiers even though he is gone. I will miss you Ray RAY!!

We will definately miss Ray at our 25th Class Reunion this summer. Ray and other classmates that are all together now will have a special place of honor in our booklet. May God's hand be with family and friends during this time.

I knew Ray for about 10 years. We rode Harley's together and were even firefighters together. Ray wrote me a lot from the Middle East and he talked a lot about praying more than ever while there, the Lord in his life, and his desire to do the right thing. He really had a heart for our troops over there and wanted to be a help to them through his firefighting skills and knowledge. He wrote an article for a local newspaper titled "Can we make a difference in Iraq within the fire departments?" and sent it to me for some help with it. I still have it if anyone would like to see it.

I met Ray when he was at Stratmoor Valley Fire Department. He will be remembered as friend to everyone.
