Raymond George, age 78, passed away on Nov. 11, 2024. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for many years and was retired from military and government service.
Ray was born on July 13, 1946, to Earl and Mary George of Pennsylvania. As an Air Force dependent, he lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Maine and Hawaii.
He graduated from Widefield High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Marines, serving in Vietnam. He then spent several years as a disk jockey in Colorado Springs and then joined the US Army, where he served in the radio and TV career field in Germany and Panama.
He is survived by his brother, Mike, and his sister, Marie (Mimi). Donations in Ray's name may be made to Wounded Warriors.

Ray was always a kind hearted soul. We shared laughter, and on occasion, hugs. He was a cherished friend, always had time for a hello. He is missed and always will be..Miss you my friend...

I never knew as a teenager that I would meet the man behind the voice on the radio station WkRB New Bern NC. But I did 50 years later. Ray you were a true gentleman and good friend.

I am saddened to hear of a fellow Gladiator passing away.
I did not know Ray well as I was several years older.
My condolences to his brother Mike and his personal friends.
A final salute for his military service on behalf of all Americans.

I have many fond memories of Ray from high school...Always had a smile on his handsome face and was a friend to everyone...would talk to you anytime...my late sister Betsy Murray, Class of 1965 knew Ray as well...he will be missed but will be in our hearts forever...Rest in Peace and THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice...!!!
