Raymond Thorne Obituary

Thorne
Raymond "Rick" Everett
Thorne
September 7, 1943
January 27, 2023

Rick Thorne, of Monument, CO, peacefully departed this earthly life on January 27, 2023 at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs, CO.

He was born in Ogden, UT on September 7, 1943 to DeWayne and Melba Thorne. He grew up in Kaysville, UT and graduated from Davis High School where he was a star basketball and track athlete.

He excelled at everything he endeavored to do. He was an exceptional bowler and an avid golfer. Fishing was his passion. He tied his own flies for 47 years and enjoyed tricking many a fish with his creations at Antero Reservoir with his sons and grandsons.

He married Rita Anderson on April 30, 1960; they were married for 20 years and had 2 daughters and a son. Rick sacrificed and strived hard to be a good provider and role model to his children. He wed the love of his life, LaNita Nusca, on August 28, 1982 and gained 2 more daughters that he loved as his own.

Rick was a highly intelligent and well-respected man who was considered a valued asset to all his employers. He worked for Boeing's Seattle division from 1966 to 1969 where he participated in the construction of the first 747-100 double-decker Jumbo Jet, spearheading the production of its marquee spiral staircase. He moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1971 where he was employed with RBM Precision Metals for over 20 years; working his way up from the ground floor to Vice President.

He is survived by his wife, LaNita Thorne; his son, Ron Thorne (Shari) of Colorado Springs, CO; his daughters, Rickie Skaggs-Hoaglan (Ralph) of Commerce City, CO; Renee Gardner (Tony) of North Ogden, UT; Stephanie Reilly of Colorado Springs, CO; three brothers, Lynn Thorne (Nancy) of Syracuse, UT, Dennis Thorne of Bountiful, UT, and Larry Thorne (Kathy) of Bountiful, UT; one sister, Heitonga Maynes (Randy) of Riverside, CA; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stacie Nusca; and grandson, Steven Thorne.

Per Rick's wishes, no funeral service is planned. Friends and family may leave condolences at swan-law.com. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Rick to aspca.org
