Raymond Clarence Whitlock Jr. was born on August 21, 1922 in Salida, Colorado. He died on Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ray Whitlock, raised in Colorado Springs, attended church and knew from an early age, a strong foundation in life is built on an ongoing relationship with God's Son, Jesus. He graduated from Palmer High School, and attended West Coast University. In 1942, he graduated with a Bachelor in Aeronautical Engineering.
In June 1944, commissioned second lieutenant of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served in Italy during WW ll. He earned a Bachelor in Religious Education in New York. He met wife, Lois; their son, Raymond III, was born there. They joined Independent Faith Mission to work in Rome, Italy for 21 years. Ray, Director of the Bible Correspondence School, also planted churches, embraced the people, and culture as they shared God's love and His word with the people.
After 17 years, they moved back to Colorado Springs; Ray became Mission's Pastor at Mesa Hills Bible Church from 1990-2010. He served as administrator of "Town Home at Rockrimmon Homeowner Association" where they lived. In later years, he lived at the Satellite and Emerald Towers.
God's word was always a priority and love for him, and encouraging missionaries around the world. He knew the power of prayer; prayed for family, friends, neighbors, and the nations without ceasing. He knew the joy of obedience to Jesus Christ our Savior. Ray will be missed; yet we rejoice he now enjoys his long awaited heavenly home.
Raymond is survived by Daughter, Barbara (Davide) Baccella of Italy; Daughter-in-Law, Joan (David) Whitlock-Carron, of Illinois; grandchildren, Pamina (Doctor) and Cristina Baccella (Teacher) of Italy, Jason (Erika) Whitlock (Princpal City Planner) of Denver, and Matthew Stanton (Design Engineer) (Jeannie) Whitlock; great grandchildren, August, Calvin and Lincoln Rai Whitlock of Denver, and Vienna Whitlock and Raymond C. Whitlock IV of San Jose.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Stanton Whitlock (2000); son, Raymond C. Whitlock III (2008); Parents, Raymond C. Whitlock, Sr. and Christina Urquhart Whitlock of Colorado Springs, CO; and sisters, Helen Dickinson, Betty Oilar, and Frances Kramer.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 28, 4:00pm, Mesa Hills Bible Church, 615 W Uintah St. Colorado Springs. Following service light mingling meal provided.
