Rebecca Sue Trujillo-Cortez, 61, of Colorado Springs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023. She was born in Colorado Springs, CO on July 11, 1962, to Alfred Trujillo and Carole Curtis Trujillo. A long-time Westsider, Becky graduated from Coronado High School in 1980. While there, she played the saxophone in the marching band, and she cultivated and maintained many friendships throughout her life.
Becky joined Progressive Insurance in December 1990. Her dedication and enthusiasm elevated her to Senior Trainer, her job until her passing.
Becky met her husband, Eugene (Geno), at a basketball game 12 years ago. They married in 2018. Friday, October 13, 2023, is their 5th wedding anniversary. Together they enjoyed cooking for family and friends, traveling, and hosting holiday gatherings. Becky's love for her family had no bounds. She was always willing to lend a hand when anyone needed help. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, compassionate friend, and family member.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Carole Trujillo. She leaves behind her husband, Geno; sons Tony Veatch and Joshua Veatch (Maj Jay-Sue); sisters Teresa Sellier (Doug), Brenda Shore (Ken), and brother Keith Trujillo (Michelle); grandchildren Destinee Williams, Kaiden Veatch, Arlo Veatch, and Braelyn Veatch; great-grandchildren Weston and Callen Baroni. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs, CO on Friday, October 20 at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Ave., Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to GoFundMe "Becky Cortez" https://gofund.me/b514779a, to support Becky's grandchildren's education.
