Reina Clayton Obituary

Reina R. Clayton, 77, went home to be with the Lord August 29, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Reina was born to Fermin and Lorenza Tafoya on September 29, 1928. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, J. Mike Tafoya; stepson, Eugene Clayton; and brother-in-law, Billy Clayton. Reina was a vibrant, outgoing person who loved life. She touched deeply the lives of her family, friends and co-workers. Those she came into contact with often described her as a "classy lady". She dedicated many years to the Girl Scout Council of America. Reina retired from the Pueblo Police Department in 1985. Her dedication to the community lived on as a volunteer at St. Mary Corwin Hospital for ten years. Reina leaves behind husband, Lewis Clayton; brother, Dennis "Boone" Tafoya; son, Patric (Liz) Benavidz; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Tafoya; stepdaughters: Lynn (Tom) Palmer and Pamela (Tom) Florezak; grandchildren: Dawn (Lynn) Fuchs, Gary Benavidz, Corey Staples, Tony Trujillo and Zeb Clayton; great-grandchildren: Bryce and Carter Fuchs; nephews: Gary Lee (Shirley) Tafoya, Jeff Tafoya, Jon (Nancy) Tafoya; nieces: Debbie (Merk) Manzel, Dani Rene Williams, Reina (Ernie) Carrasco, Jana (James) Warren; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by special devoted friends of 45 years, Sandy and Jerry Gatewood and adopted daughter, Joanne Weiser and her children, Sissy and Christy. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel, located at 14th and Main, in Pueblo. Following the service, friends and relatives will be received at Ianne's Whiskey Ridge, located at 4333 Thatcher Ave., in Pueblo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lupus Support Group or volunteer staff of St. Mary Corwin Hospital, through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N.
