My Great Grandpa was an amazing man. I was so little for many of the years I spent with him but I remember them quite well. I will never forget the day he told me how he got his nickname. I told him that he was a movie star because Paul Newman gave him his name. I remember always watching the Colorado Rockies games with him and from that my love of the Rockies wasn't just because I was from Colorado, it was because that was the team Poppy Rocky loved. I also remember the day when my choir got to sing the national anthem at the Rockies game and my family surprised him by taking him. I had never seen him look so proud and happy in my whole life and that day is how I will remember him for the rest of my life. Thank you Poppy Rocky for teaching me how to punch down my hamburger to make it smaller, for watching Dennis the Menace with me, for letting me play with your Buddha statue in Alaska, and sneaking me sips of coffee when my dad wasn't looking! You made the first 18 years of my life ones to remember and I will cherish all your stories and memories we have together. See you in heaven one day and I promise I will have a lot of stories for you in return! Much Love, Your great grand daughter, Corrie

"Rocky" was a wonderful person, he was very special in our lives. We felt a unique bond as we would with our own fathers. We loved and respected him very much. He was our friend, our advisor, our story teller and most of all, another "Dad"! We enjoyed his company, his sense of humor and his laugh. We enjoyed going to Cripple Creek together and probably bragged about the "wins" and lied about the "losses". As an advisor, he once shared his experience about a pocket gopher problem. I mentioned that the pocket gophers on our property, were getting so numerous and very hard to eliminate. They were eating our flowers by pulling them down from the top. He had a solution that he tried in Alaska. He mentioned that I should take a cup of gasoline and pour it down a gopher hole, wait 5 minutes, stand clear and light. He said, when he did this, it launched the gopher into the neighbors yard. I responded with, "now we're talking". This is the kind of advice that I was looking for. We still remember his laugh when he mentioned this incident.
We're so sorry for your loss. He will be missed and loved, but never forgotten. He's in God's hands now.
All Our Love,
Dave & Peggy

Rocky will always be dear to our family ... he was my father and grandpa to my children. We 'got' him the same year Adam was born and he gave great joy to our family and loved his Ada beyond words. Age took its toll and death took him away but he will remain in our hearts forever.

Grandpa you will always be Grandpa to me, I don't remember just how young I was when you came to be my Grandpa it just seems like you always were. I will always remember your wonderful sense of humor, how beautiful your art always was and of course your overalls. The last time I saw you we had such a wonderful visit and I was so touched by the time you spent with my boys, thank you for that time and the special memories. Love you always.

Grandpa,
Although not related by blood you're the only grandpa I had and I can't imagine my childhood without you. You taught me that pepper would grow hair on my chest (and it did) and how to win at card games among other things. I love you very much and will always hold a place in my heart just as you did for me.

I met Rocky a few years ago when his daughter and my friend Jan brought him to the senior citizen dance that my RuSL service learning club at Russell Middle School put on in the Spring. He was always a delight as well as a ready partner on the dance floor! His bright blue eyes were as beautiful as the person he was on the inside. He will be greatly missed.

Grandpa Rocky will always be in our hearts as he has filled our family and children with his love in his role as their Great Grandpa. His greatest gift was always sharing an old time story with plenty of laughs to follow. We send our love to all of you and we also will miss him forever!!

My Dad was a wonderful man and taught his kids a lot of things. I'm glad I got to spend 59 of my years with him. I miss his laugh, his jokes, him using WD-40 on his knees, him being able to go to Cripple Creek, him playing Bingo (and winning), him getting up in the morning and making oatmeal everyday and always having a pot of coffee on, his gardening skills (his plants were always blooming), his overalls he wore almost everyday, him shopping with his motorized chair in the stores, his visits with his friends and his love for his family.
We know you are back on your farm in heaven with our Mom, Hattie and your son, Gary growing corn and wheat. The thing I will miss the most are your hugs, I love you Dad and I miss you so much everyday.
Your daughter,
John & Vicki Roberts

Love leaves a memory no one can steal, death is heartache only the Lord can heal.
God bless you Mr. Ruppert you were such a “cool” Dad when we were teens. I always enjoyed visiting you in our later years.
